    Merry (and Safe!) Christmas

I just want to wish all of my brothers and sisters here a very merry Christmas. And don't forget to protect yourself and your loved ones from the China/Biden virus by praying every day!

I've been a bit busy lately, between dealing with the latest COVID crisis, vaccine issues, and preparing for my increased responsibilities in the Biden administration. But I, too, want to wish all of the good people at the Landover Baptist Church a very merry Christmas. The greatest gift you can give this year is the gift of life. So please limit your travel, minimize large gatherings, maintain physical distance, wash your hands frequently, and wear a mask. Prayer won't hurt, either, but it isn't enough.

"Prayer won't hurt, either, but it isn't enough"?! Where on Earth did you get that idea? Obviously, Dr. Phony, you have never read these blessed words:

Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."

Luke 11:9 "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

Matthew 18:19 "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven."

I'm afraid that you will have to try much harder, if you wish to challenge the believers' faith when it comes to the ability and willingness of the to answer prayer!

Goodness, PT, you were quick off the mark there! Do you have people constantly monitoring this site? Or maybe you have nothing else to do, other than get pelted with women's underwear on prime time TV?

In the spirit of True Christian(tm) charity, I'll assume you're on your lunch break. And thank you so much for your input.

No doubt most of the mire than 300,000 Americans who lost their lives to this terrible disease and their families prayed. I'm not here to tell anyone how to lead a religious life, but I do know that public health measures such as limiting contact and masking work to reduce transmission.

I generally don't get much of a lunch break. But public outreach, especially to superspreaders like your church, is important.

I feel safe about the disease and the fine blessed Christmas soon to arrive. But, I'm anxious about the safety of our country after Jan. 20. I just don't see Biden as a President to stare down and intimidate this disease the way Trump has done. Trump stands tall and fearless. Biden looks small and unsteady.

We are superspreaders--superspreaders of the Good News that Jesus is Lord and His Holy Word. In the unlikely event that anyone at Landover Baptist Church gets the chinonavirus, all he has to do is go to one of our healing services and he will be cured immediately. If our pastors can cure blindness and crippling injuries and hangnails and legs of unequal length and cancer, a mild flu-like illness like COVID wouldn't even pose a challenge.

A statement like that requires more than just your say-so to be true. In a similar situation, Paul asked God about this and although he didn't drop dead a certain amount of angst was involved.
                      II Corinthians 12:9
[God speaking] My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
[Paul continues] Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Paul's prayer was not augmented by hypnotherapy. God's reply did not arrive tizzied up with mirtazapine. Prayer alone was sufficient. Now it may be that God's reply to Paul was unique. As you know there are not degrees of uniqueness and if applicable (in my example) would be of narrow significance, as Paul outlined so that we would know. The thorn in his flesh was to remain but he didn't drop dead.

Clearly these wretches prayed to the wrong deity or addressed God in some deficient way, perhaps involving an idol, and there's no shortage of yoga classes or horoscopes out there. Millions participate. A few hundred thousand you say? There's a deep pool of heresy from which the prayers of hundreds of millions are not even heard - a ratio of 1,000:1
I'm not here to tell anyone how to lead a religious life
But you are. Your recommendation means disregarding what God has explained. More than that. It means the religious life described by Christ Jesus (the creator of the universe) is based on falsehood. He is explicit that His grace IS enough. That through prayer ALL disease is cured. Following your advice means leading a religious life according to what YOU say in direct CONTRADICTION of what God says. That means you ARE telling us how to live a religious life. You need to explain where GOD got it WRONG and how the RELIGIOUS life is HARMFUL. So many mothers are at a loss what to do, whose words to follow, what to tell their children. You need to be less woolly.

Pharmaceutical interventions may seem helpful to start with but after a while she needs a little more help and before she knows it the helper becomes her downfall. Just as Jesus knew all those years ago and exactly the reason He replied to Paul as He did so that we would know too.
