I was deeply saddened yesterday, as I'm sure so many others were, to learn of the untimely death of Reverend Ernest Angley. Brother Angley was called home to be with the

-- after a brief illness. How he shall be missed!
Some may remember that I am from the Pentecostal church originally, as my dear Daddy was an evangelist. Daddy and Brother Angley were great friends, holding revivals together, as they saw wondrous miracles performed, demons cast out, and a countless number of souls saved and baptized throughout the decades -- all in
' Name. As years passed, the
saw fit to bless dear Brother Ernest with his own television show, which drew even more to Calvary's old, rugged Cross.
Now, I do realize that Brother Ernest was not without his critics, but we must remember the words of the
:
John 15:18 "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."
Despite this blessed assurance, there were some rather unkind, untrue things put forth by the devil, in an attempt to dis-credit the glory of the Work of
. I can remember some nonsense about one of the youth pastors making unsavory accusations, or some other tittle-tattle about flights to Africa to heal people with AIDS. But, Brother Angley rose above all of the demonic detractors, and he continued his work for
-- pressing on, to continue the fight, on behalf of the
!
Hebrews 12:1 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,"
And, so shall Brother Angley be rewarded:
Matthew 5:10 "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 25:23: "His
said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy
."
And, as for those who opposed Brother's Angley's fervent passion for the Gospel of the
:
Matthew 25:46 "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
May we remember Brother Angley for his steadfast work and dedication unto Almighty
