  • Looking forward to this!!!

Tom Meyer and the Institute for Creation Research will be reciting the entire New Testament (KJV) from memory from Oct 11-15.

The Great Recital at the ICR Discovery Center | The Institute for Creation Research

    I'll be joining on line.

I know that Zeke could recite the entire Bible from memory but he is a busy man. Still, I'm sure that Tom and his crew will do an outstanding job, and those fortunate enough to be able to attend in person will be greatly touched by Tom.

    Phil
58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; 59 Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. 60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. 61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bringk upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

This is powerful. The advertisement says these books from the Bible will be recited "in their entirety." Great entertainment for the whole family.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

I know the Mooselimbs regard this kind of rote repetition highly:

On the authority of Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – that the Messenger of Allah – peace be upon him – said: “The one who memorized the Quran shall come on the Day of Judgment and (the reward for reciting the Quran) says: 'O Lord! Decorate him.” So he is donned with a crown of nobility.

But is there a Heavenly reward for memorizing the Bible? There is earthly reward from the ticket sales, which I supposed could be donated to a real cause (such as a new private jet), but this could also be achieved by changes in the tax code. Would it be equally meritorious to memorize tax laws?
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

I really don't know, Brother Dr. Toole, Sir. But there is certainly Earthly reward for True Christian™ mothers of many, such as myself. Every hour that a child spends memorizing God's Holy Word (KJV) is an hour during which he is too busy to be sinning.

My own children are keen to participate by reciting along with the Great Recitalists, though there is some dispute going on as to who gets to recite what. I suspect that the question of the Book of Revelation - everyone's favorite - may have to be resolved by physical combat. But this is a matter for them to deal with among themselves.
Vaccinated by the love of Jesus!!!

One time in our church an old timer said he could recite the begats (Genesis 5:1-32) from memory. He got most of the way through until he made a mistake, and then he was dragged into the parking lot. Why, you ask? Because it was a sin (Deuteronomy 4:2). If Brother Tom Meyer omits, adds, or changes one single word of the New Testament during his recital he may as well spit directly on the face of Jesus. You can bet I'll be watching with a bowl of salted popcorn.
I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
          Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

For a change-up, try onion soup powder (you can get it cheap at bulk food marts) from a slightly bigger shaker than you'd use for salt, but you still don't need much for a whole lot of flavour.

            Excellent sidedish for schadenfreude.

I am just gutted, and will no longer be watching the next 4 days of online streaming. The second reciter, Aaron House, is using the ESV for the Gospel according to Saint Mark.
              So sad about this.
Maybe Landover can put up a similar recital next year. KJV only! And lets do the WHOLE Bible, not just the NT. I'll put my hand up for The Third Epistle of John.
I'm thinking a ticketed event over 7 days. Proceeds to the Jet Fund
