The Bible is very clear on bowels. I've just been reading Jeremiah who sums it up nicely.
Jeremiah 4:19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
Later, in The New Testament, we learn how to regard one another – but there is also a warning in line with your post.
Philippians 1:8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.I John 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
