Many years ago, jesus determined that his cost of business is 10% of gdp. Seems reasonable. But say I want to buy shares of XYZ and earn 10% so that I can pay jesus without damaging my principle. Is that acceptable? Or what if I lost my investment and jesus did not get paid? That would be a sin right? I'm confused.

Re: Does Jesus Like the Stock Market?
That sounds like skimming to me. 10% is the minimum tithe. Do you think Jesus will be impressed if you are grudgingly tithing the bare minimum, doing just enough to squeak by?Originally posted by sinnersbedamned View PostMany years ago, jesus determined that his cost of business is 10% of gdp. II Corinthians 9
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
If you are only giving because you feel like you have to, then you aren't saved. If you cheap out, don't expect any favors from God.
Therefore, give generously and cheerfully! God will repay you several times over (see below).
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
God will make sure you have everything you need.
9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousnessold
When deciding how much to tithe, don't worry about your own needs. God will not only make sure your needs are met, but you will be repaid severalfold. Why would you gamble in the stock market anyway? Tithing is the best investment you can make.
That winking emoticon appears in the original text of the KJV. God is letting you know he's got you covered. However, if you are cheaping out on your tithing, it is proof that you don't trust God.
Praise the sweet name of Jesus!

Good point.
I was hoping that XYZ would pay greater than 10%, but I can see that it is no guarantee. I am just struggling to find investments that I can pay jesus from, and not be guilt ridden over the potential outcome. Because I DO NOT WANT to go to hell.

Don't worry, man.I would suggest to follow the Ten Commandments, attend church sermons regularly, try to spread the Word to atheists, get baptized, and tithe. You will go to Heaven if you do all of those. If you do not have an ample amount of money, then don't worry. When you become financially stable, give abundantly to the Lord! Amen! Glory to the King!Originally posted by sinnersbedamned View PostGood point.

As Pastor Billy-Reuben has pointed out, that's not it. What exactly does that have to do with the subject at hand?
So I guess that your Bible (the one with the wrapper still intact and the thick layer of dust on top of it) doesn't have the verses that I've cited.Yeah, you forgot that if you repent and ask God for forgiveness, everything would be alright
