Re: Honestly.
Need I continue, English major?
OK, I'm going to let it go; I've discovered far more substance later in your post than I initially expected.
On school time, or no?
In school buses, or no?
I thought so. Taxpayers subsidized this little trip to watch a God-hater's movie.
So are snuff films. Your point?
Making it at all is offensive to us as Christians. There is no way that a movie glorifying being a soulless, undead monster can possibly be INOFFENSIVE to Christians.
So, as a non-believer who hasn't studied the Bible, you've seen many things wrong with it?
Spending 15 minutes (numbers greater than nine may be written in numerals, zero through nine are spelled out) at the Skeptic's Annotated Bible site isn't quite the same thing as learning about God's Word, friend. Even chatting a little on their little God-haters discussion board doesn't cut it. They'll only fill your head with their atheistic lies and mockeries of God's Word, pretending they found "contradictions" and other nonsense.
***LOOK! It's the SUBSTANCE!! DOWN HERE!***
Well, that's because God tells us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, and to separate ourselves from them. He wants us to only socialize with other Christians, that we not be confused and led astray by people promoting Scientology or Satanism or Oprah.
As for "brainwashing", well, their minds are doubtless more pure with Jesus than before Him!
I do.
You're what they call an "agnostic", or perhaps a "Deist", like Franklin and a number of the Founding Fathers were. You want to imagine your very own god, instead of worshipping the One True Three-Faced God, named God/Jesus/Holy Ghost. You'll wander aimlessly through life until someone comes along and offers you a feelgood cult of one sort or another -- Buddhism, or Obama/Oprahism, or Objectivism, or Satanism -- and you'll decide that "feels right" and join right up, saying you knew it all along.
Trouble is, that's just a made-up religion that people created, not the One True religion, which has existed since God created the Universe 6,000 years ago. They've written a few books and call them "holy". Heck, Oprahism has a new "holy book" every MONTH! How ridiculous is that, to call books written by people "holy"? They're not the Word of God, transcribed through humans, like the Bible!
I apologize, these cults and their insults to God make me rather angry.
Friend, pornography is for entertainment. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is for entertainment. Roseanne? Entertainment. But these all distract people from God. Some more than others, but they do not edify, and they do not glorify God. They are worldly, and cause people to turn to the world instead of the Creator.
As God's Creation, we should be ignoring the worthless, corrupted physical universe He created for us to live in, and focusing on Him instead.
There's a thread here somewhere about favorite Bible quotes. Maybe you could share some of yours, and see some of ours! I've included a couple later on in this post.
Er, why are you coming to Christian church forums and NOT expecting a discussion of God's Word?
No, really. I can't get my head around that one.
That'd be like me going to a cooking forum and being upset that people keep tossing recipes at me.
Yes. Jesus put it best:
"It's" is a contraction for "it is". The possessive of "it" is "its", English major.
Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine.
Religion IS a "radical" belief. True Christianity(tm), or for that matter True Hinduism or True Oprahism, is ALL or NOTHING. God gave us the Bible. He told us to follow His Laws. He said to follow ALL of them, not just the ones we like.
Some people find that radical, or extremist. I don't see why it's extreme to do what our Creator tells us to do! After all, Jesus puts it best again:
You're welcome. I hope this helps you understand us a bit better.

My Contemporary American Women Writers teacher thought it'd be nice to send the school on the trip because so many of us had read the books so, out of our own pockets, we all went. No taxpayer's dollars.

I believe the films you're talking so hatefully about were made purely for entertainment purposes.
I doubt they tried to make it offensive towards you as a christian.
Also, I spoke very hatefully towards the bible and i'm sorry, but seeing that little cut out online made me think of all the little things I see wrong in the bible. That's just me talking purely as a non-believer. I talked to a christian friend of mine and cleared a few things up. Also I was not looking for this link, the headline was a link at a movie review site.

I've also lost many friends to religion... It sounds absurd but after many of my friends "found christ", they stopped talking to alot of people who didn't have the same views as them. As though they were brainwashed.
As for "brainwashing", well, their minds are doubtless more pure with Jesus than before Him!
I was not intending to crush your beliefs just... I don't know. I'm very confused about my life but know this, I do believe in god to a point. If anything I believe in what Ben Franklin did. I forget the name of it, but it goes something like "We believe god put us here, but we also believe that we are to find our own enlightenment through what we do and believe in as a person, instead of what the bible tells us." In his case it was science. Thats not the exact quote but you understand.

Although that's all true, I still believe that your attacks on hollywood were not justified. It's all purely for entertainment.
As God's Creation, we should be ignoring the worthless, corrupted physical universe He created for us to live in, and focusing on Him instead.
ALSO. I'm not a very hardcore bible lover like most of you, but I do enjoy quotes from the bible. I do believe it was poorly written, especially for today's standards, but some quotes apply even to a non-believer's life.
Also the number one thing I hate has happened, and it happens everytime I talk to a christian person about this topic. I've been preached to. Not as bad here, but do you honestly think someone like me will just turn around and put everything I have into my belief in god?
No, really. I can't get my head around that one.

That'd be like me going to a cooking forum and being upset that people keep tossing recipes at me.
And although this is totally off topic, how do you justify others beliefs in different religions? Hinduism? Buddhism? Are they all going to burn in hell?
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
There is only ONE path to Heaven. Jesus said so, therefore it is true.Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
I just find religion at it's core to be a very radical belief.
Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine.

Some people find that radical, or extremist. I don't see why it's extreme to do what our Creator tells us to do! After all, Jesus puts it best again:
Luke 12:4-5
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
We should fear God, not people who think we're "extreme" or "radical". See? And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Sorry for MY unjustified attacks on your religion, I just had a bad... memory.
Please explain some of this without saying things like: "You will burn in hell!", or, "Because He says so."
Thank you.

Thank you.
