Can you tell the difference between these statements?

Some "framing" of sentence structure might help.

This means that the majority of frogs (but not ALL frogs), are the color green.

This is a true statement, as some frogs are green, and some are not, but the majority of frogs are green.

2. |All green things| are |frogs|.

This means that every single thing that is green, is a frog.

This is not a true statement. It says that every green thing, like a blade of grass or a leaf on a tree, is a frog. Blades of grass are not frogs. Agreed?

Do you understand the difference? This is how our language is structured.

Now, bearing that in mind:

This is a true statement, as most (but not all) people who strap explosives to themselves are Muslims.

|All Muslims| are |suicide bombers|.

This is a false statement, as it says that every single Muslim is strapping explosives to him/herself and blowing up.

Just as every green thing is not a frog, every Muslim is not a suicide bomber.

Just as most frogs are green, most suicide bombers are Muslim.
