The Colleton A.M.E. Church is sponsoring the 73rd annual Okra Stomp on July 11. Any of you who happen to be in the area are welcome to attend. The focus of course is on fellowship, but those wonderful Okra dishes will be in ample supply. We’ll also have locally caught blue crab, shrimp and crawdads. Jelly-Belly Jackson will be preparing the chitlins and Peep Johnson will be doing the chicken. All types of barbeque will be available including vinegar, mustard, and tomato based recipes. Seed Roosevelt will be bringing a truck load of water melons from his farm. There’s much more, including the Glory Girls who will be singing some good old time Gospel music. So come on by. You won’t leave hungry!

Ah, I shall have to attend, if I can find time in my busy schedule! I absolutely love food coloreds have fried up!
If I come, you will know, as I will be driving the 4x4 Ford F250 with dual snorkels, and a large cross painted over the windshield, with Gospel blaring from the speakers.

Rest assured Jimmy, there will be none of that, whatever that is, at the Okra Stomp. Is this some sort of Caucasian celebratory rite of which I am unaware? Indeed. George and Pink over on Edisto Island make the best hot sauce I have ever tasted. They call it 5 Pepper Hot Sauce and it is magnificent.
