What about the civilisations before Christianity was adopted?

For example, the ancient Greeks, the ancient Romans and the ancient Egyptians established a legal system that punished murderers and thieves, and they managed this without the morals that came from "God". To punish, you need a set of moral guidelines in which to punish them from, and they were established well before Christianity was even around.

It is incredibly arrogant to assume morals came from God and as an atheist, I can take comfort in the fact that we have always had a primordial sense of right and wrong.

Wait a minute. The Greeks were and are a bunch of boy buggerers much like Catholic priests and the Romans with the help of the Jews killed Jesus and they were boy buggerers too.

There are some false religions that offer false morals but the only true religion is LBC Christianity.

The only truly moral people are True Christians. History has proven that time and time again as has the Bible.

I'm not mocking your religion and I think you have the right to believe in whatever you wish, but for you to say all stoners are lazy, unmotivated, bums is as bad as me saying every middle eastern person I meet is a terrorist. Son, there is only one path to Salvation(c), and that is through Christ's Blood. Take a look at THIS, once you come down off your narcotics.

You will notice that among the requirements to achieve Salvation(c) are not being a lazy pot-smoking bum, and not being a middle-eastern terrorist.

Why do you think atheists need to be threatened to do good? I don't think like that; I actually want to help people and make the world a better place.

I got kinda a karma thing going for me; do good and good will happen to me. Doing good makes me generally happy.

JESUS doesn't care whether you are happy or not. He is going to kill you regardless. The name of this thread is 'What keeps atheists in line'? The short answer is Guns and roses; real ones, not the filthy, drug-addled group of stoners.

Yep. Lewis B. 'Chesty' Puller at the frozen Chosin. One of my DIs was there. Chesty wasn't suited for civilian life any more than Joe Foss or....me. . But when you need chinks gunned, Underdog don't get it done.

What keeps atheists in line?

I should be able to answer this because I was one for nearly fifty years, maybe forty since it is hard to consider little children responsible for this type of belief. Why didn't I rape, rob, whore around, dishonor my parents, divorce my first husband, act like a know-it-all, murder or even lie?

Well, actually I did half those things and so did you, most likely. I thought it was freedom and fun but in reality I hurt people in my life unintentionally by not ever bothering to truly understand what God wanted me to do. Oh, I thought about what God might want but atheists want to have the Freedom to choose whether Hell exists. They do not want to be controlled or told what to do. So, they say God is a lie and fairytale to keep people moral and good. Yet, I see no evidence that is true. I tried to be good and have ethics, be honest and fair but in the end nothing I did had any substance because I was looking at my "works" and not my relationship with God. One day I hope you get it.

P.S.-True Christians: I am still working on my path to Salvation. It will take time. Sorry, no quotes because I talk way too much and Pastor Zeke already posted some great ones.

I am aware i am new to this forum so my opinion may not be valid. There appears to be nothing to keep atheists in line. Is this why there is so much crime and corruption in the world?

It is my belief that if everyone choose to accept the Lord then the world would be a better place. There would be non of these heathens trying to kill innocent people for a start.

I cannot answer the original question as it appears to me there is nothing to keep them in line, clearly the justice system can't world, if they are asked to swear to Almighty God that they will tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth when in court, but they don't believe in god whats to stop them lying?

Not a darned thing! Just their "conscience" . . . you know, the part of their brains tells them right from wrong, and already told them to reject God and His Laws. Laws like "thou shalt not kill" and "thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's ass".

So they've rejected everything God stands for, and are now free to covet any ass they like!
