My nephew Jeffrey is a ten-year old boy spending his summer at the Landover Baptist Vacation Bible Gun Camp. He called me this weekend to let me know how much he is enjoying himself. I asked him what activities he enjoys the most. He said he likes the AR-15 and hand grenade practice the best, closely followed by the nightly haranguing of sinners--the camp brings in actual sinners for the boys to rebuke.
Jeffrey then asked me if I'd like to hear one of the songs they sing at camp. Of course I said yes, and it was the cutest thing:
There was a farmer, had a slave
And Negro was his name-o
N E G R O, N E G R O, N E G R O
And Negro was his name-o!
There was a farmer, had a slave
And Negro was his name-o
- E G R O, - E G R O, - E G R O
And Negro was his name-o!
There was a farmer, had a slave
And Negro was his name-o
- - G R O, - - G R O, - - G R O
And Negro was his name-o!
This continued until the N E G R O was gone entirely.
It is such a joy to know that my nephew is having a great time while developing positive, Christian values and personal protection skills that will last a lifetime.

! I am also reminded of the many crusades and services that we held in the churches, as Daddy preached sermons to reach the souls of all ages. I shall include a couple of photographs. Daddy was the guest preacher at the service in the first photo. You will see him shaking hands with the Pastor — I've highlighted the photograph for your benefit:
