Will Hollywood ever recognize Kirk Cameron's achievements?

Being a Christian in 21st century Hollywood is a bit like being a German Jew in 1943--one is subject to constant mockery, derision, cold shouldering, and even physical threats and intimidation. It's a hostile climate, like McCarthyism gone horribly wrong, and most find it more convenient to keep their faith under wraps, remaining, so to speak, "in the closet." Not Kirk Cameron. He's outspoken about his faith and isn't afraid to say so, and for this, the LORD has granted him acting chops (and good looks ) the likes of which the world has scarcely seen. Time and time again, Cameron ignites the screen with fiery, urgent, intelligent, often hilarious performances... and how has he been treated at the Oscars? Let's take a look.
    • 1987: Kirk debuts on big screen with a bang in hilarious Like Father Like Son. The film receives no nominations, with joo Michael Douglas taking home the top acting statuette.
    • 1998: Cameron stars in winning family comedy You Lucky Dog; Best Actor goes to mincing dago Roberto Benigni, in spite of Benigni's character failing to speak a single word of English. Titanic is honored with the most nominations in modern times, just because Kate Winslutt couldn't keep her bra fastened.
    • 2001: A watershed year in movie history, as the epic Left Behind series combines thrilling action with important Biblical messages. Cameron and costar Janaya Stephens are shafted in favor of thuggish negro Denzel Washington and sultry mulattress Halle Berry, for their respective portrayals of a murderer and a miscegenator. Best Picture goes to A Beautiful Mind, which glorifies mental illness.
    • 2002: Left Behind's sequel, Tribulation Force, somehow manages to top the original, providing viewers with a dazzling special effects extravaganza interwoven with soul-saving Christianity. Cameron turns in yet ANOTHER powerhouse performance. The Academy bows to feminazis and gives Best Picture to ultraviolent, sex-drenched Chicago. Adrian Brody wins Best Actor for crawling around and wiping soot off his face.
    • 2005: Third Left Behind masterpiece proves to be the finest yet. Sodomy dominates the Oscar ceremony, with Capote, Brokeback Mountain, and other anti-Christian propaganda movies are showered with awards. Hatefest Crash takes home Best Picture for relentlessly assaulting the dignity of the White race.
Will this madness ever end? Not unless we True Christians have our say. I don't know if he's been in any movies lately, but let me say it right here and now: Kirk Cameron for Best Actor in 2008!

Re: Will Hollywood ever recognize Kirk Cameron's achievements?

How heavy your heart is, Sister, for our Godly Brother Kirk, a Hellywood "insider" whose joyful superficiality and good grooming are a testament to the Lord's power of God-centered calculation. Why! it's so easy for all of us to imagine Brother Kirk ministering to the stars, as he "praises through" on any one of the Coachella Valley's exclusive golf courses. If there is any reluctance on the Church's – not to mention the general public's – part to celebrate Brother Kirk's life, capped teeth and ministry, it only arises from Satan's raging jealously of all things pretty for Jesus. Brother Kirk has laid down his stones for Jesus, and yet, how many of us have mockingly saddled him with a heavy cross to bear, one that challenges his reduced vitality. (But Brother Kirk is not alone, although – to be sure – his is a small brotherhood, which includes himself, BJ Thomas, Pat Boone …. and others? God bless em all).

Sadly, at this rate the Academy is probably waiting to give him one of those worthless "Lifetime Achievement" awards in 2020 or so just to shut us up... and by that time he'll probably have been Raptured already.

By the way, it's worth noting that the Best Director winner in 2002 was not Left Behind director Buck Williams but a Polack who brutally raped a prepubescent girl but got off without a day in prison because he made a few fornication-laden art movies that delighted the raincoat brigade in the Sinful Seventies. The film that won him the Oscar was called The Pianist. I would strongly urge all of you against saying its title out loud.

        GLORY!!

Don't forget to add former Eight is Enough and Charles in Charge star Willie Aames (a.k.a. Bibleman) to that illustrious list, Brother Lee.

In case anyone missed the thread in Creation Science, here is an amazing video in which Cameron and fellow Christian Ray Comfort demolish the entire atheist agenda with a simple piece of fruit!

What an inspiring biography that is! Only the Lord Himself could animate someone who (all quotes guarenteed verbatim):

            * starred in a video series and annual touring performances as the Christian superhero Bibleman

            * appeared on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club 2

            * one of the more notorious contestants to appear on the show, after a huge blow-up

            * found a passion for hunting

            * has his own hunting program on TV

            * stays fit through his hunting endeavors and Cornish wrestling

            * struggled with drugs and alcohol for over twenty years

            * became a born–again Christian

            * three months before he married his second wife, Maylo McCaslin

            *currently resides in Kansas

...a life made possible by Jesus Christ.

Play it again, Sister! That video is so full of good grooming and stone-free ministry that only True Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ will be able to stand to watch more than 5-second intervals of it at any given time.

Are you kidding me? His acting in the Left-Behind films was superb and easily some of the best acting I've ever seen.

Well maybe you are tricked into thinking that other actors are "good actors" because of each film's satanic influence? When you watch films about rape, destruction, unholy violence, and satan, you're bound to be infected by the father of lies. In fact, I do not doubt this is the case. You cannot recognize True talent anymore, you're damaged goods lady.

I'm not a fan of horror movies. Some of my favorite films are Chocolat, Map of the Human Heart, Schindler's List, Jesus of Montreal, The World According to Garp (although the book was even better), The Joy Luck Club (again, the book was even better), An Officer and a Gentleman, Fiddler on the Roof, To Kill a Mockingbird (I also love the book, but I'm not sure which I like better - Gregory Peck was so perfect for the role of Atticus), Dances with Wolves (one of the few times I've liked a movie better than the book), Forrest Gump, Pretty Woman (yeah, I know it's a variation on Cinderella), and Shall We Dance. Nothing Satanic or evil about any of those.

In that list I see two movies about joos(Fiddler on the Roof, Schindler's List), one about a prostitute(Pretty Woman), one about asian atheists and femnazis(The Joy Luck Club), one with feminazi undertones and satan's magic(Chocolat), one about heathen injuns aka noble but godless savages(Dances with Wolves)...

Sounds rife with all kinds of anti-Christian themes to me.

I happen to like An Officer and a Gentleman, however.

I guess it all depends on how you look at it. The way I see them,
Fiddler on the Roof is about the overwhelming power of love - Tevye is able to finally see that it is more important for his daughters to find their own happiness than to follow the paths he had laid out for thm.
Schindler's List is about the good that can be done when one man decides to oppose evil and help those who are being victimized by it.
Pretty Woman is a combination of Cinderella and Pygmalion - it's about the fact that a person's outward aspect isn't nearly so important as what's in his or her heart.
The Joy Luck Club was about women who had to make hard choices to survive in hard times, and how those choices affected them later in their lives and in their relationships with their own children. The daughters finally were able to understand the forces that had shaped their mothers and after tehy understood, found a new respect for them.
Chocolat is about a woman determined to make a life for herself on her own terms - strength, baby. It's also about how the local church is bent on forcing her to comply with their rules, even though she doesn't practice their religion, and her successful resistance to their pressure. And it's about befriending the friendless and the oppressed, both in the form of the river gypsies and the abused wife.
Dances with Wolves was about finding the good in that which is at first strange to you, and finding out that different people aren't so different after all, and that he whom you call your enemy may be more like you than you know.
And An Officer and a Gentleman was about maintaining your honor on all levels of your life, most especially with the person you love.
