    Why yo not so friendly

Damn, it is a new year in Jesus land and not one of you (that I read) said Happy New Year.

What's so hard about that? No happiness. I am just shedding my love here... Jesus is love..you stone hard hearts!! Geez, even the Catholics shed more happy thoughts than you guys!!

Let us start with a good whoopin!

My New Years resolution is that I have to give up my love for Anderson Cooper. I am a 360 addict... Bring more Fox..

If the Lord leads you to it, he will get you through it.

Happy New Year, Seeker. I did not mean to be unfriendly -- I was cloistered in my mean hovel, crouched in prayer whilst the Red Chinese rockets of accursed secularists whistled in the frozen air about me, my rabid dog crouching reverently beside me. To us the New Year begins at Eastertide, when Christ springs forth like a tiger -- like a taxi throbbing, waiting. Personally, I am not particularly fond of the Gregorian calendar, and this wasn't the New Year amongst the English-speaking races until 1752 -- long after 1611 and the appearance of God's inflexible Word.

In a nod to modernity -- o pool of fishes destined for salvation or (mostly) damnation -- I shall nonetheless express my fervent hope that we all see whatever pure desires we have come to fruition in 2008.

May Mike Huckabee be elected! May the Persians be swept off the face of the earth! May the Iraqis grok democracy! May those who wear sunglasses in the night perish in their ant-like tunnels beneath the DMZ! May the children of Ham abandon Ebonics and learn once again to appreciate shackles! May the Joos find Christ, unless preparing Judea and Samaria as a playing-field for Gog and Magog with sleek, American-made weaponry! May many a Coke bottle be lodged in the rectal canals of Sodomites until they come to understand what "exit" means! May woman return to womanhood in dresses produced at American textile mills! May anti-Americanism and even un-Americanism be squelched like the borborygmi of wetbacks in freshly painted English-only deportation centers! May Goths and Wiccans meet their maker like Sand Negroes dangling from the nooses of inexperienced executioners! May the children of liberal "Christians" wander into the clutches of the queer lobby that their permissiveness saw built!

      Sincerely,
      Magna, née Magnus

        True that.
Personally, I always spend 'new year' praying that Jesus will soon return:
And I'm always quite unhappy that this vile world has survied for one more year.

I'd prefer not to think of this as a 'New Year', so much as a year exactly the same as the other 80 or so I've lived out, with only a steady decline in faith and morals upon the horizon. So, I went to bed at my usual 6:30pm, tucked myself in with a cup of hot cocoa and a dash of brandy and read a few chapters of the KJV before drifting off.
"She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day" - Luke 2:36-37

Of course there is happiness, my friend. To a True Christian™, New Year's day represents the first time Sweet Baby Jesus shed His precious blood for us:

Luke 2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

As True Christians™ we're BOUGHT with the sweet blood of our Redeemer (1 Cor. 6:19-20,7:23). Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying we're bought with the blood of Baby Jesus' penis - I'm just saying that those first sweet drops of blood Jesus’ shed on the eighth day were a foreshadowing of the blood He would have to shed on the cross for our sins, and that every little drop helps. PRAISE

            Happy New Year

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIRCUMCISION OF CHRIST, EVERYONE!
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

                HAPPY DERNED NEW YEAR!

                There.

Freezing gray mist hangs in the tops of the oak trees, crows stoop like undertakers over soggy lumps of roadside carrion, and far away in a darkened hotel room Britney Spears is planning a comeback.

                Happy new year!

For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun?

For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity. Ecclesiastes 2: 22, 23

And after the too-brief holiday we return to labor in the salt mines of Caesar, hung-over, wracked by indigestion, flatulence, and (as friend Magnum Innominandum aptly put it) recurrent borborygmi.

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. Ecclesiastes 3:9, 10

O, the travail! As the leaves rot in the corners of the wint'ry yard, so sorrow rots in the corners of the human heart. And small black toadstools sprout thereon, causing the cardiologist to start back in amazement.

Wait, the toadstools grow on the leaves, not on the heart! Sorry.

How, in these short and bleak days of winter, doth the Christian soul long to hear the glorious shout "Christ is risen!" and see the daffodils of His promise pushing aside the rotting leaves of regret and the toadstools of...um, whatever toadstools stand for.

And so there is hope! Hope!

I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:12, 13

And so in the new year, with God's help I shall spend the filthy coin of Caesar to buy an overpriced watercraft, and drift upon the rivers of His creation with mine paddle in hand and a dog in the bow, and the summer light shall fall down like honey on the, um, something-something of the river.

So what's your New Years resolution?

I love to lay in bed and read and relax. (I pray to the heavens for a laptop) You are wise and older...

                        Cocoa and Brandy??

Gosh, I will admit that I am not sure about mixed drinks and I think I really need to learn soon. It is chilly Whilly here.

Okay, back to the drink... not snapps(not even sure how to spell that vile)

Having acid reflex does take a toll. Maybe Cocoa and Bourbon?

I need a good hot drink to read over the KJV and then relax.

I have been trying to drink more hot green tea. Gah! I need a big kick for my stress here!!!

Vodka and the KJV???? Sounds better..
