Brothers (and Sisters) -
When I witness to nominal Christians, I find the Bible my best tool. It's usually easy to find out how they completely misunderstand God, then prove the Truth(tm) by showing them Scripture.
Atheists, on the other hand, are a completely different animal.
"No, you can't use the Bible to prove God," they cry.
I used to think they were trying to limit my options unfairly, until one recently explained to me, "You can't convince me with the Bible because I don't believe the Bible. It carries no weight with me. It's like a Muslim trying to convince you that Muhammad was the prophet of Allah by using the Koran."
Naturally, I told him, "But that's completely different. The Koran is of Satanic origin, written by people who were confused by the Devil with the intent of steering people from Christ."
"So, you think the Koran isn't valid? You think quotes from it are meaningless?"
"Right! I'm glad we agree on that."
He paused. "That's essentially how atheists view the Bible, and why your Scripture-quoting doesn't convince us of anything. Threats of Hell are about as scary to us as threats of the bogeyman are to you."
So, how do you witness to atheists? Is there any hope for them? Or are they simply lost?
