Brother Narrowpathy, I too detest this "cat-room speak" as the youngsters call it. Perhaps we should replace the letters LOL with the words Ecclesiastes 2:2 in square brackets?

Chat-room! By golly, I never thought of that. All this time I've been misreading it and I imagined people sitting around in rooms full of cats and smelly old litter boxes and tufts of hair and whatnot, typing LOL and ROFL and WTF and LBJ and NORK and RUBL and other incomprehensible arconames. (Acrotames? Astronyms? Afroblemes?) ANYWAY.

I want to make clear that i didn't want to correct the honourable Mr Mayfield. Just that 'laughing with' has some kind of negative connotation to me.
