Recently a Unitarian Universalist recommended we visit BeliefNet's forum to ask questions about his brand of crackpot superstition. I have been witnessing to the Lord a bit over there, and have found it infested with non-thinkers, goofballs, and fruitcakes nuttier than any made by my Aunt Bertha-Rae.
Here is a great exchange from a thread titled "Transforming Real Estate Energy".
Fruitloop1: "Due to the recent growth in my spiritual awareness, I've become aware that this house (or the property on which it stands) has accumulated some really bad karma, due to negative occurrences -- possibly even murder...Anyway, that's what I feel when I open my senses... that there's a great sadness and lack of forgiveness here..."
Fruitloop2: "When cleasnisng a house I use sage, and also sea salt in the corners of my rooms and just ask God and the Angels to protect this house from all negitive vibes."
Fruitloop3: "...I do believe we can do clearing and cleansing with our minds the use of sage in clearing ourselves or a place of negative energy brings more senses into play. Sage and cedar are burned to clear out negative energy (and spirits). Sweetgrass is used to attract good spirits. I found the following link which explains more...."
Fruitloop1 responds: "I lit a white candle inside my Mary candleholder last night, and afterwards I slept better than I have in several days -- so I think we're on the right track here!"
Fruitloop2 responds: "I'd say a white candle just because a white candle can be used for any type of candle magic. Although other colors will be for specific intentions. Example: burn a green candle for abundance and prosperity..."
Jeezo catfish, Jenny! These loons are mixing God and angels with faux-medieval herbalism, Mary-worship, and new-age candle rituals in a sort of watcha-got stew of superstitious nonsense.
O Lord, I pray: bring the LIGHT of Your immaculate revelation to these wandering goonybirds. Make straight their tangled brains! Make clear their mooncalf eyeballs, that they may see Your great Creation as it really is! Set their staggering feet on the straight path to the Strait Gate of Your mighty SALVATION!
Lest they harvest the WRATH of disobedience!
Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Ephesians 5:6
