Is it much fun being a Christian?

Re: Is it much fun being a Christian?
It seems like an aweful waste of time if you spend this entire life preparing for an "afterlife" that may or may not be there. Just cause a bunch of people wrote a book a thousand years ago promising a "heaven" just to prevent people from enjoying themselves. What a waste.

The amount of happiness cannot be compared to the amount of happiness that is expierenced in heaven. The question is, is it worth to waste your life for salvation that may or may not exist?I would like you to meet my imaginary friend, God.

Re: Is it much fun being a Christian?
Fun is not what motivates True Christians. You don't read any stories in the Bible about Jesus "having fun," do you?
The alternative to being a Christian is unthinkable. I love Jesus because He commands me to. Glory!

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

John 2
1And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew
the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. 11This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Re: Is it much fun being a Christian?
Where does it say that Jesus was having fun? All I see is that He was at a wedding and His mother got all yappy with Him and He told her to back off. Maybe Jesus had had a bit too much to drink that day and it made Him irritable. That happens to me sometimes too.Originally posted by narrowpathy View PostJohn 2

HE was called (and HE was doing HIS FATHER's work, he was with HIS disciples), didn't even come before that, how much fun would you think HE would feel at a jooish party with hosts as joosly misers that they didn't even buy enough wine?

Re: Is it much fun being a Christian?
Yeah I forgot having fun is a sin. The logic that "If Jesus wouldn't do it, you shouldn't either" is very easily flawed. There are some things I wouldn't do like read or watch Harry Potter, cause I know that it is wrong. But it's exteme to believe you can't have fun cause Jesus didn't. I swear... the nerve.Originally posted by Pastor Ezekiel View PostFun is not what motivates True Christians™. You don't read any stories in the Bible about Jesus "having fun," do you?
Jesus wouldn't study the weather like I do either, so that must be wrong too. Are you going to condemn me for that?

I don't use stories in the Bible about Jesus&prophets using flush toilets, either. I doesn't mean that He wouldn't use them nowadays.Originally posted by Pastor Ezekiel View PostFun is not what motivates True Christians™. You don't read any stories in the Bible about Jesus "having fun," do you?

Perhaps, He would have fun if the things that would bring Him satisfaction were around. Such as fully-automatic pistols, handgrenades, Atomic bombs, SUVs."Karyn is with us. A West Texas girl, just like me" -- Faaabulous President Bush, May 27, 2004

And what kind of geek studies the weather? What does that entail, going outside and looking up at God's sky and saying "Yep, it looks like rain today!"?
How old are you, pal? You aren't one of those kids who ride the short bus, are you?
