Landover Baptist Pastors Have Not Cancelled Church

The newest, most disgusting trend in liberal evangelism is "doing good deeds." Here are two examples.

Rev. Joel Osteen, self-centered TV "preacher", is starting a TV reality show where he and sex-obsessed young people will go out and do good deeds.

Then, there was a more offensive announcement today. Rick Warren, a socialist if there ever was one, cancelled services on his mega church campus' so teams could go out and do "good deeds."

Nothing could be more stupid than making people weak by doing things for them. It is socialism falsely placed under the banner of Jesus.

I thank God that when I go to Landover Baptist today, I will not learn I am headed out the door to do harmful "good deeds." Instead, I will enjoy a wonderful sermon about sin and the road to hell if I engage in it.

In a rare move, the 20,000-member Saddleback Church in Orange County is canceling all of its worship services during the second weekend in December in order to help facilitate a huge neighborhood ...
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Volunteer opportunities listed on the church’s website include visiting severely disabled children in hospitals, serving breakfast to homeless and families living in motels, and helping families having members in the military stationed away from home with house chores.
In the defense of these cherry pickers, mayor, at least they are not investing in actual institutions and programs that would help the poor to find jobs, get educations, and become productive members of society. They are more or less just masking the problem of poverty so that God's punishment of the poor can be carried out under the liberal radar.

      Um ... good deeds?

Eph. 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. Now that's just ridiculous. If we cancelled Church, how would we collect our Love Offerings and Tithes?

The Internet donation portal, of course!

My church publishes in our Intranet (members only) the donation amounts and the annual tax returns of all members. Most of them just set up their direct deposit so 10% of their pre-tax income goes directly to the church's account.

Then they add cash in the collection plate, of course.

Re: Landover Baptist Pastors Have Not Cancelled Church

Going out and doing "good deeds", indeed.

I consider it a "good deed" anytime I sentence a "perp" to anything less than the maximum punishment allowed by law for violating the "laws of the land."

For example, I recently had one of our Pastors brought up before me for being over the "legal limit" while operating a motor vehicle. He was on his way to comfort a newly-made widow woman after her husband croaked met an untimely demise. He fell over when exiting an "adult emporium" down in Des Moines during an investigatory trip to explore the filth so rampant in that cesspool of depravity we call the Capitol City.

The husband's heart gave out, probably because of the shock to his system when he was looking through the literature offered for sale to the public.

The Pastor pleaded "nolo contendre", but I refused to accept that plea because I knew he was a "stand-up guy".

I sentenced him to a minimum of one hour of community service in the local Teen-age Mother's Center here in Freehold with a requirement he return with videotaped evidence of his witnessing to at least one female, no older than eighteen years of age.

He returned this morning with a smile on his face. I am going to review the tape in my Judge's Chambers as soon as my schedule allows.

What deed could be better than getting together to chant that there is a God? Not that I'm saying we need to have the idea reinforced--I mean, we're 1,000% sure that there is a God--but still, I don't see how feeding homeless "people" or whatever is more important. Remember, when Judas suggested that Jesus sell the ointment being applied to Him to help the poor, Jesus said, "the poor will be with us always." If that's not an instruction from God to devote yourself to Him and not to some bum or some child too lazy to get a job, I don't know what is.

This makes absolutely no sense. If they want to go out doing "good deeds," then they are free to do so on their own time.

Sunday morning is God's Time, and by neglecting their responsibility to worship Him at the allotted time, they are jewing our Savior of what is His.
                  II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J.
