If you're like most True Christian™ parents, you don't allow your daughter to date at all. That safeguard, of course, is intended to prevent your daughter from fornicating with boys.*
It never occurred to me, however, that dating within the sanctity of the family unit might be permissible, and perhaps even serve as a healthy outlet for the energy your daughter might otherwise expend on trying to "hook up" with males she is not related to.
I got this revelation today from reading a conversation currently taking place on Dr. Laura Schlesinger's Facebook page:

Now, obviously, Dr. Laura is still in her pre-perfected, pre-Christian state, but that lady has a solid understanding of Old Testament law, and I have a strong feeling she will soon blossom into belief in our Lord, much as a butterfly inevitably emerges from a cocoon.
Just the same, I would be very interested to hear your opinions on whether daddy/daughter dating is based on sound Biblical principles.
I am a bit concerned that many of Dr. Laura's respondents seem to think it's a great idea for fathers to repeatedly tell their daughters how beautiful and special they are. The Bible does prescribe a very different kind of training:
Dads, I'd be especially interested in hearing from you regarding your idea of the perfect date: If you were to take your daughter out on a date, how would you go about filling the evening with activities and experiences which specifically teach her to fear the Lord?
*Naturally, several hours of farm work will also accomplish this goal, but in these post-agrarian, post-industrial times, how many families live on or near a farm?

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
