Ways in Which the Holy Spirit Guides Our Lives

I thought it would be nice to share the ways in which the Holy Spirit has served as a Guide for those who truly believe.

As we know, Jesus made a promise and He never breaks His promises.

    And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
    John 14:16-17

The World cannot comprehend the guidance of the Holy Spirit, but True Christians™ can. The World cannot comprehend just how the Spirit guides us, be we know it. We know what we know what we know!

So I propose a thread in which we share how the Holy Spirit guides us. I'll start.

The other day I was preparing to do my errands. The LORD laid it upon my heart to take the minivan which has lots of room and is very comfortable. As I was in the middle of my errands a great storm arose. If I am correct, it even hailed. I was grateful for the LORD to have guided me to take the minivan rather than walk as I generally do.

As I was out, I saw up ahead a gentleman I recognized from the pet shop. It was Jakub, the immigrant from Poland. The man is a hard worker and decent person. He works three jobs to earn enough money to bring his wife and daughter to the United States to live. I had considered stopping to pick him up since the hail was really coming down hard and I knew he had a three mile walk to his next job at the movie theater. Since it was on my way, I thought that the kind thing to do and so immediately prayed to the LORD for confirmation. None came, and so I drove past him and continued my errands. The rest of my day went ever so smoothly, the LORD really blessed all my labors because I had faith in Him and was obedient in every thing!

    Please, share your own stories!

    Oh Glory, sister!

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. - 1 Corinthians 2:14

Our experiences may some nonsensical and sometimes cruel to other people, but it's only because they aren't blessed.

Your story reminds me of the time my niece was staying with me for a couple weeks, and she came down with a terrible fever. I prayed and prayed that she would be well again by the time Sunday morning came, but her fever had gotten worse.

That morning I agonized over whether or not my wife and I should stay home from church and take care of our sick niece.

I prayed for answers from GOD, and within minutes I received His Divine Will.

The Bible instructs us not to forsake gathering together to fellowship, and GOD revealed to me that He wanted me to drag my niece out of bed and take her to church even though she was running a 104 degree fever.

So I rushed her out of bed and gave her five minutes to make herself look presentable for church, and off we went to Sunday morning services, happy in the LORD.

My niece looked just awful sitting there shivering, all tense and snuffly and sometimes barely awake, but I know that GOD was pleased we obeyed His instructions.

Amen, Brother! Isn't the LORD just so Righteous! And we have no reason not to obey Him and trust Him at the same time! Your experience sounds not unlike one I had years ago. Sadly the woman I spoke with did not trust in the LORD and so was not obedient, as I later found out. You see, I bumped into her at the post office and we'd struck up a friendly conversation. As always, Jesus was on my heart and I couldn't help but share the Good News. I felt the Spirit welling up inside me and told her point blank, "God wants 100% first place for every follower! He is a jealous God and will not be second place to anything! If I care more about any thing more than I care about God, He will take it from me. Whatever you love more than God, THAT is what he will take from you!!!" I felt very strongly the Spirit was guiding me, He used my tongue to share His message.

I later found out this woman was visiting a neighbor of mine and had recently lost a baby at birth. She considered herself a Christian but had loved this child more than God Himself. She learned a hard lesson, but an important one, and I for one will never forget the feeling of being a messenger for God!
