    Is this wrong?

Deaner finally came by to pick up those pallets of Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey he'd had delivered to my home several weeks ago. I still don't understand why that was necessary, but I'm just thrilled to finally get them out of my garage.

Anyway, I wanted to show him the heated Baptismal pool I've been installing in the back yard, and as we were passing through my house, Deaner happened to spy my study Bible, which was laying open on the dining room table.

When he saw all the Post-It notes, highlighter marks, and underlining, he about pitched a fit. He slapped me real hard and I kind of blacked out for a moment, and when I came to, I was slumped in a kitchen chair with Deaner yelling in my face about my having desecrated the Holy Book.

Things calmed down after about a half hour, because by that time Deaner had yelled himself hoarse, and he opened up one of those whiskey bottles, which certainly helped reduce the throbbing in my face from where he hit me.

Anyway, I do understand where Deaner's coming from on this, but I just wanted to check with the pastors here and see whether I've violated any of God's commandments. I am really hoping that my scribbling notes in the margins doesn't constitute adding to the Lord's word?

Here's a snapshot of my study Bible. I don't think this looks so bad, but maybe you all might have a different opinion.

    Re: Is this wrong?

I would be very interested to hear a Pastor's take on this too, Faith_Machine

I have always had a "companion book" to my Bible. It is just a notebook in which I make my study notes and observations rather than writing directly in the Bible. Of course, this is not because I had ever thought it was wrong to do so, but simply because I like the clean white pages of my KJV. I would certainly like to know if scribbling in the Bible is desecration?

Please keep in mind that the Bible I use for studying is only one of several I own, and I obviously keep my other Bibles in pristine condition. Here is a photo of my prized possession, a 1611/1613 Folio Edition of the King James. I'm still making payments on the $90,000 loan I took out to purchase it, but it's currently valued at $125K to $150K, so I'd say I made a wise purchase.

Oh my, what a beautiful treasure! Of course, what is gold and silver when it comes to the Word of God? But I would definitely say you made a very wise decision, and you must be so proud to have it in your home!

Oh yeah, yeah. I remember that. Sorry 'bro. I was in a bitchy mode that day (You're a cool guy, you know that I know you know that).

No sense ratting me out to the Pastors. They've all been paid off. They'll give you a bitch slap worse than I did. Best to just keep your mouth shut and let it slide. Bobby-Joe has a 12 incher.

Hold on brother, I didn't see this as "ratting out," because I didn't think you had done anything wrong. I stepped out of line and you gave me a Godly correction. The only question here is just how far did I step out of line?

I hope and pray that I have not angered God too much, that's all.

              Revelation 22:18-19

              King James Version (KJV)

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Brother, you are skirting dangerous territory by highlighting God's Word. If peradventure you were to smudge the ink, or in any wise take away from the Word, God will take you out of His already slim Book of Life!

I can't help but notice you have added to His Word in the margins there. That is not a damnable offense, but the Lord does say He will add plagues unto such offenders. Perhaps there is a retarded child in your future, or a bout with the emerods, the scab, or the itch.

You can, however, wear the Word of God as a hat all you like.

              Ephesians 6:17

              King James Version (KJV)

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The Only Real Climate Change Will be Hell!

That's what I was afraid of. Those margin notes have been so helpful, though. I must transcribe all of them to a notebook before I begin the daunting task of restoring that particular copy of The Bible.
