What on earth is a 'cafeteria Christian'??

This seems to be used frequently by contributors on this forum - I suspect as a form of insult.

Can someone please explain (a) what constitutes a 'cafeterian Christian' and (b) how you can tell from just a few posts whether a person qualifies as one or not?

A cafeteria Christian is a person who picks and chooses what they want to believe from the Bible, not what the Bible actually teaches.

Hence, you get the image of somebody walking through a cafeteria loading up their tray with John 3:16 and other feel-good verses while neglecting the verses that actually require them to do something and take action.

Our own Pastor Deacon Fred has a lot to say about them.

Dear friend:

A cafeteria Christian is someone who decides for himself which parts of the Bible to accept, as one might select certain foods in a cafeteria. Since many people make it clear within a few posts that they have that outlook, we can often tell the cafeteria Christians quickly.

Well, excuse us for being able to tell the difference between Almighty God and a saltine. As a matter of fact, we do have Communion, but we accord it the correct significance as set forth in the Bible.

Book and verse, sinner. And explain exactly how we ignore it. There is only one verse I can think of that fits that description and I can assure you we do not think everyone is equal in the eyes of the Lord.

Please, There are more important things to discuss. Like Jesus, what's in store for True Christians(tm) and hellbound heathens, for example. I think that's more than enough. Lib views are something God hates.

You have to be kidding me. Your Eucharist, or whatever it's called, is a mockery of God's Communion and it SHOULD be avoided. Also, You should know that LBC follows the KJV front to back and EVERYTHING in between. There is no positive and negative verses. It's all 100% truth, every single book from Genesis 1:1 to the end of Revelation 22 is all truth. so how are the positive ones avoided?
