There is such an unfair attack on President Trump over his firing of a government statistician. Trump decided the unemployment numbers were too high and the number of jobs created were too low. I don't want to go too far into the weeds here, but an explanation of the relationship between statistics and statisticians might be helpful.

Statistics are numbers. Numbers come from statisticians. If you want the very best in statistics you need the very best statistician. After the President appoints a top-notch statistician we will see better numbers about the economy. Just now there are bad numbers coming out every day. To win the next cycle of congressional elections Trump needs these bad numbers to stop. Fortunately, he can choose from a long list of Republican statisticians.

Your perspective is always one I respect, Dr. Tooley. The problem we have is really with Republicans. Most of them voted to appoint the fired statistician, Dr. Erika McEntarfer, when she was up for confirmation. She was not required to sign a pledge of loyalty to President Trump. Now that she has been fired, good conservative groups like the Heritage Foundation and the Wall St. Journal are supporting her. It's obvious she did not produce good statistics, why all the Republican support? Our Republican brothers should agree she did not do what is expected of her.
