Should public schools be banned in America?

Here's what I think. Public schools are evil. They create far, FAR more ills for society than any benefits. Actually, the benefits they produce are about ZERO. Ignoring the fact that they are run by liberals bent on brainwashing children, it must be seen that they absolutely FAIL at doing what they claim to do - TEACH CHILDREN.

The fact of the matter is that universal education was NEVER intended as some sort of "right" according to the FOUNDER FATHERS! It was only relatively recently that this idea has been indoctrinated into people. The vast majority of the population in fact does not have the mental capacity to excel in learning, and the +/- 12 years they spend being watched by those glorified, over-paid babysitters called teachers, are a TOTAL WASTE. A waste of tax dollars, and a waste of their time.

Once public schools are gone, free-market private schools will be allowed to flourish. Those who have the money will therefore be able to buy the BEST education for their children. As it stands, public schools hardly teach anything, because they have to keep lessons to the lowest common denominator in order to be understood by the stupid children who have no business being in a school.

Now, those lower class children who will never succeed in life with the current system, can get along much better. For the large part of American history, the majority of the population was illiterate, but we still flourished. Now everyone goes to school and the economy is sinking. Ban public schools, and you are left with millions of children who can't afford school. What to do with them? They should join the workforce! Don't cry about cruelty and whatever. Today's conditions in the workplace are not horribly dirty and unsafe as they were in the 19th century.

This way, we will create millions of new members for the workforce, and the economy will BOOM. They can do all of those low-paying jobs and get rid of the need for those illegal immigrants once and for all! And we will save billions of tax dollars. With poor families have several more paychecks coming in, the welfare system can be completely shut down the lifestyle for these people will rapidly improve.

    What do you think?

Taxing ME (and I don't even have kids) to pay for SOMEONE ELSE'S brat's education is SOCIALISM and blame Obama for not abolishing the public school system already.

There are those limited places where public schools do a good job Christian education. Freehold, Iowa, is an example.

We have a student read a prayer each morning. The prayers are written by the Pastors at LBC. This keeps us from violating the "Feds" because it is free speech by the students.

Then student knuckles are struck by the teachers and the day's lessons begun.

Public school is a ploy perpetrated by guilt-ridden liberals to try and destroy the white race by sending women to be involuntarily impregnated by Negros.

I agree wholeheartedly. In fact I'm working on an upcoming sermon entitled "American Public Schools Are Run by Communist Joos Who Want to Destroy America."

Re: Should public schools be banned in America?

I've never liked the public schools where I live. They are cess pools of kids dressing inappropriatly, swearing and making out . My time in public schools was terrible- it's a wonder I wasn't corrupted for life. Nontheless, I'm glad I could be there to keep my friends from the temptation of sex, drugs and dressing like skanks.

Re: Should public schools be banned in America?

Excellent points all around! We need to get the ball rolling to get rid of these tax sinks. It disgusts me that we spend billions a year on this wasteful dead-end, instead of using that money to bail out more corporations who need it or towards buffing up our national defense (and keeping us safe from the terrorists.).

Furthermore, most of what is learned in public school is a complete waste of time and the "education" has no practical value in life. And I'm not talking about those damned music and artsy-fartsy programs either. I'm talking about history, (secular) science, physical education, English/literature, foreign language (don't get me started!), and mathematics beyond arithmetic. Heck, you can even get rid of most of arithmetic. All you need is to know how to add and subtract. You don't even need to know multiplication since you can still figure out the answer by adding (3x3 = 3+3+3).

So, we are putting our kids into 8 hours a day of school for 12 years to learn absolutely NOTHING of value. Now, I haven't checked the statistics, but I'm sure if you did, you would find that countries with the lowest literacy rates and public education would have the strongest economies.

Re: Should public schools be banned in America?

I am going to go slightly against the grain here.

I think that public schooling WITH A BIBLICAL FOUNDATION should be compulsory for grades 1 through 5. After 5 years, they already know, or SHOULD know, pretty much everything they need in order to do day-to-day things: basic math, how to read the Bible, how to locate America on a world map, etc.

I know that they could be put to work before the age of 10 or 11, but in many cases they are not yet strong enough to do manual labor (mining, farming, etc.), and not coordinated enough to keep their fingers and arms from getting ripped off in a factory setting.

It's a compromise, true, but one that could work to our advantage.

                Yours in Christ,

I think that the one with the strongest economy is China, who also has the best public schools. I know a bunch of Chinese people (I went also to China) and they don't go the private schools so much.

If they're so smart from their public school system then why are they living in China and not in America?

Our supermarkets aren't socialized; our schools shouldn't be either!

An analogy by Donald J. Boudreaux

"Suppose that groceries were supplied in the same way as K-12 education.. . .

Being largely protected from consumer choice, almost all public supermarkets would be worse than private ones. . . .

How could it be otherwise? Public supermarkets would have captive customers and revenues supplied not by customers but by the government. Of course they wouldn’t organize themselves efficiently to meet customers’ demands. . . .

As for the handful of radicals who call for total separation of supermarket and state—well, they would be criticized by almost everyone as antisocial devils indifferent to the starvation that would haunt the land if the provision of groceries were governed exclusively by private market forces.

In the face of calls for supermarket choice, supermarket-workers unions would use their significant resources for lobbying—in favor of public-supermarkets’ monopoly power and against any suggestion that market forces are appropriate for delivering something as essential as groceries.

Some indignant public-supermarket defenders would even rail against the insensitivity of referring to grocery shoppers as “customers,” on the grounds that the relationship between the public servants who supply life-giving groceries and the citizens who need those groceries is not so crass as to be discussed in terms of commerce. . . .

In reality, of course, groceries and many other staples of daily life are distributed with extraordinary effectiveness by competitive markets responding to consumer choice. The same could be true of education—the unions’ self-serving protestations notwithstanding."
It's the same situation with our schools.

First because they are born in China, so it's a little normal to live there.

Second, they prefer to live in a country with a better economic, military and worldpower than america.
