Those shoes were a present His Holiness was given by a lovely parishioner (Donatella Versace) and he was just being kind and respectful when he wore them. Pope Benedict (Ret.) is a humble and simple man of German extraction so of course he might make a fashion faux-pas the odd time! The Teutons are about as stylish as the average potato farmer from Des Moines so it is very uncharitable of you (no surprise) to make light of his garb.
But this is a mere distraction from the discussion of the false conservative narrative that runs cock-eyed through this place like a one-legged butcher trying to catch a greased piglet.
