The purple velvet on the tithing collection plate . . .

    It's kind of bothering me.

Isnt that kind of, like, I dont know, a homer color for a Church to use on it's tithing plate?
    What next? Rainbow colored velvet?
Premarital sex is only a roadblock to holiness. You don't need to touch another person's body–or your own–to have a rockin' good time!

Actually purple historically has been the colour of royalty.

    From wiki:

The actual color of Tyrian purple, the original color purple from which the name purple is derived, is the color of a dye made from a mollusk that, because of its incredible expense (many times more expensive than gold), in classical antiquity became a symbol of royalty because only the very wealthy could afford it. Therefore, Tyrian purple is also called imperial purple.

John 19:5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

The word purple is used in 48 verses in the bible (kjv1611).

As it's not hard to come by these days, the purple used in the collection plates is a throwback to the times when it was a colour of royalty. The purple in them is made by the same process as before.

    Hope this helps

Well, I hope thats the intension of the purple velvet on the tithing plate.

It's amazing how the gays have skewed even the blessed things in life. Things like ... the color purple.

I hear you sister. I detest the way these fruits and queers have completely twisted the American language around. How fondly I recall the days of yore when my uncle Donald "Rummy" Rumsfeld would pile a bunch of us preteen boys into his limosine and shout "Let's all have a gay day at Disneyland!"

Nowadays of course he wouldn't be caught dead saying such things. Thank you Mr. Homer!

Fine, if you don't like purple, change it to pink. With some glitter, to make it.....more royal.

That's an excellent verse. Of course, every single verse in the Bible is utterly glorious, but especially that one. Pontius Pilate may have been a pretty shady character, but even he had to recognise who "da man!" is.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

              You are so right brother.

              Pilate said "Ecce homo".

Were Jesus festooned in faggish purple instead of royal purple he might have said "icky homo".

In heaven the collection plates will be dyed red with the blood "donated" by you and your fellow witches, delivered daily from HELL.

                  I don't see a problem here.

We're presently going through a Roll-out of the EZ-Slide® Collection plate which means that the traditional plate is being withdrawn anyway.
The beautiful gold offering plates are equipped with credit card slide and approval on demand slots. Church members who do not have cash on hand will now be offered the option of pulling out a credit card and simply sliding it through the plate.

Let's face it, anyone who loves Jesus as much as we do wouldn't carry the sort of cash around with them to make a decent donation anyway.

Shouldnt the church be charging at the entrance as well as having collection inside? Or would that be like having 2 separate admission fees? One for Church and 1 for heaven? I dont see a problem with that.
The devil, whose business is to pervert the truth, mimics the exact circumstance of the Divine Sacraments. He baptises his believers and promises forgiveness of sins...he celebrates the oblation of bread, and brings in the symbol of the resurrection. Let us therefore acknowledge the craftiness of the devil, who copied certain things of those that be divine."

Indeed Sister Nikilds, the Church should not be dissuaded from using this color (which dates to ancient Biblical times) just because the homers have taken over the fashion industry.

Royal Purple (6,6'-dibromoindigo) was derived from several species of marine mollusks:
