    My Thoughts & Updates

I am not sure where exactly this would belong, but I figured this would be the best place for it. I thought I would make this thread to share with you and to keep personal reference of my progress.

Anyone who has read my posts knows the following about me, for those of you who haven't, well, now you do.

I was born into a very strong Christian family. I am the youngest of two sons, and the only one who kept their relationship with God, My brother, over the last 10 years, despite my mother and my struggles to help him, has strayed. I am 35 years old, I teach Algebra II/Computer Programming & Chemistry at a public high school ( Yes I know. I cringe every morning I go to work, but for now I will just have to endure until God answers my prayers of getting an opening at a private school.) I have been teaching for 10 years now, and I do enjoy my job.

I have been married for a little over a year now (August 21st, 2009) My wife is taking home-schooled college courses, but I do pray that once our first child is born (as she is pregnant now) that she will forget her little fantasy of being a teacher and be how a wife should be. I am patient, and I know it is just a matter of time before she will.

Currently : Right now I am debating whether or not I want to send my wife to stay with my mother & father. They have both offered to take her in so that my mother can teach her to be a good Christian wife. I personally think she would do her some good. My family has always been close and I plan, once my son is born to continue that tradition.

Fear the Lord and the king, my son, and do not join with the rebellious, for those two will send sudden destruction upon them, and who knows what calamities they can bring? -- Proverbs 24:19-22

    Wife's background

My wife just turned 20 this last February. Her parents were married until she was 3 years old, her mother cheated on her father and he demanded a divorce, in return, she refused to let him see his daughter, thus she was raised without her father in her life. Her mother is atheist, she sleeps around with random strangers, drinks and does drugs. My wife, when she was 16, left because she could no longer stand what her mother was doing. She moved in with her Christian grandmother and went back to school. She went back to the church and with the help of her grandmother and God, has become to wonderful Christian woman she is today.

I refuse to let her visit/call or even write to her mother as I know her mother has a history of being able to manipulate her. I will not allow that woman to taint my family or have anything to do with my child that my wife is carrying.

Oops. I mistyped. That should say August 21st, 2008, not 2009.

        Re: My Thoughts & Updates

Well I know that when I had my first I wanted to be around family. And I'm in a similar situation as your wife, my mother passed away when I was young so she wasn't there for me, also my husband had been transfered to his home town (he's since been transfered again ) I definitely loved having his family there for me, the first child is a very scary time for a mother and it is very helpful to have a more experienced woman there to help her through. I have even heard doctors say that they would rather if women chose another mother to be in the birthing room rather than the father (as it was done in yesteryear) as it is one situation where the father is not exactly helpful.

If your mother is a good Christian woman, I think it may be a good idea to either have her come down to be with you, or to send your wife to be with them.

My mother is a good Christian woman , which is the reason I am even considering sending my wife to live with her. My mother is in his 70s and can't travel much due to her health, so sending my wife to her seems like the easier solution.

@Skyler : Yes, my situation is similar. My mother is way up there, age wise and can't travel much because of it and various health reasons.
