  • Car named after a book of the Bible

There was just a commercial on for the Hyundai Genesis. I cannot believe that a foreign devil of a car company would use the name of the most famous book of the Bible to shill a product.

Is there anything we can do about this?

Genesis \Gen"e*sis\, n. [L., from Gr. ge`nesis, fr. the root of
gi`gnesqai to beget, be born; akin to L. genus birth, race.
      See Gender.]
      [1913 Webster]
      1. The act of producing, or giving birth or origin to
      anything; the process or mode of originating; production;
      formation; origination.
      [1913 Webster]

The origin and genesis of poor Sterling's club.
      --Carlyle.
      [1913 Webster]

      2. The first book of the Old Testament; -- so called by the
Greek translators, from its containing the history of the
creation of the world and of the human race.
      [1913 Webster]

      3. (Geom.) Same as Generation. Genet
It's just a word. It just so happens that some Greek translators named the book that way.
The word has got nothing to do with the book, and I think its a very nice name for that car.

Re: Car named after a book of the Bible

Perhaps we're being too hasty. Is it possible that someone in that Godless company in that Godless country is a True Christian™ and is trying to subtly bring people to Jesus through naming their cars after the books in the Bible?

Perhaps the next model will be the Exodus, then Leviticus, then Numbers, then Deuteronomy, and so on. I can see that it might arouse some interest among the heathen nations who may be led to ask where the names come from and, from that, to the Bible itself. The inevitable result could be a flood of new Soldiers for Jesus!

I think it's a good idea, and I'm surprised that no-one in His Own Country hasn't thought of it yet! Perhaps one of the American auto manufacturers could trump them by starting with the New Testament. We could have:

            The Chevy Matthew
            The GM Mark
            The Chrysler Luke

etc. Imagine how many True Christians(tm) would flock to the showrooms to own one of those! I know I would!
