Reading this poorly-written post:
I was struck by the sheer volume of false Christian "hymns" we hear. They present a false, fluffy-bunny God, the "Hippie Lurve God" of people like Lumpy and Al Sharpton. After all, Jesus only loves the True Christian(tm) children of the world, and destroys the others through starvation, disease, tsunamis, Twinkie-induced obesity and concurrent diabetes, child-raping sex fiends Catholic priests, earthquakes, Elmo, and the collapse of the World Trade Center (the day care center was FILLED with unsaved children). Does that sound like the way you'd treat children you LOVE?
These people sure have an odd concept of love!
Let's look at the 1885 Lutheran classic, "Away in a Manger" for another Horrifying Hymn:
Away in a manger,
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay
The cattle are lowing
The poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side,
'Til morning is nigh.
What is this fourth verse? Look down from the sky and stay by my side all night? Are these Lutherans so egotistical as to believe that the Creator of the Universe has nothing better to do than sit and stare at them while they're unconscious?
Jesus' attention may well be caught by certain actions (as noted in Sister Rebecca's signature), but He is not "on call" to babysit when Momma wants to toddle off to the bar for a "nightcap"!
Lutheran mothers, stop tucking in your third welfare child at the trailer park and headin' out to the honky-tonk or the truck stop for some cheap booze and fornication! Jesus is NOT your free babysitter!
What "hymns" do you find offensive and blasphemous?
