It was a very stupid thing for me to ask. Thank you and the Lord for clearing that up! Your Bible knowledge is amazing, and very accurate (100%). I hope one day I will be able to have such knowledge myself, untill then... I'll be on my knees every day praying to the Holy Lord Jesus Christ! Amen!

First of all, please understand that I am not an atheist. I am agnostic. I will not commit to the belief or the outright disbelief of the possibility of a God existing or not. I am simply here to discuss facts and that which can scientifically be proven by intelligent human beings.

Please do not reply to my post with vague replies which contain statements and no facts. Simply stating God exists because I see a world around me and I think he exists is all good and well but is not relevant to me and is insufficient data.

My conclusion is that the bible is an amazing book written and put together by man which has stood the test of time and become the most widely accepted form of religion. Ironically however, the God of Abraham, (Jehovah some would call him) is not the oldest recorded God. Enki, has far older records and so does RA. Yes, if I stated I worshiped either of these Gods you would laugh at me right? Well, I can show the same amount of proof that they exist that you can that the God of Abraham exists.... which is nothing tangible and the fact that any of these Gods "exists" can be based on one thing and one thing only:

FAITH.

I am a man of science therefore faith is simply not good enough. However I am not one to state that there is no afterlife. In fact I have a decent hypothesis based on occams razor that an afterlife does in fact exist based on my personal testing.

Some information below on failed prophecies which is "some" of my reasons for concluding that the bible is just a book written by man. This is just a small snippet of a mountain of information on failed prophecies and bible discrepancies.

Christians claim that the Bible has hundreds of fulfilled prophecies, and is proof of its divine inspiration. In actuality, these so called fulfilled prophecies failed, were false or weren't prophecies at all. Many of these prophecies are so vague, they can be attributed to different events. It's also a fact that the Bible was written many years after these presumed prophecies and their "fulfillment" took place. It's also fair to mention that nowhere in the Bible will you find countries such as the United States, Russia, China, Korea, Great Britain prophesied. Oh Christians will tell you that they are, if you know how to interpret the Bible.

Genesis 26:4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.
Here God tells Isaac that his descendents (Hebrews) will be as numerous as the stars. Considering the number of stars there are in the universe, that would have to be on the order of 1020 Jewish people.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Christians say that this verse is a prophecy of Jesus' birth to a virgin. There are a couple problems with this prophecy...First, virgin in this verse is a mistranslation of the Hebrew word "almah", which actually means "young woman". A young woman is not necessarily a virgin. "Bethulah" would have been the correct word to use if the author meant virgin. Second, nowhere in the New Testament is Jesus referred to as Immanuel.
Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
Damascus is still inhabited today with over a million people, and hardly a ruinous heap.
Isaiah 19:4-5 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts. And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.
The river mentioned here is the Nile. The Nile is still one of Egypt's greatest natural resource.
Isaiah 19:18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
The Canaanite language has never been spoken in Egypt, and is now an extinct.
Isaiah 52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
There are uncircumcised people living in Jerusalem even today.
Ezekiel 29:10-11 Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia. No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.
Never in its long history has Egypt ever been uninhabited for forty years.
Amos 9:15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.
Many times, Jews have been pulled up out of their land. The ownership of their land is still being fought for.
Jonah 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
Nineveh was never overthrown. Why? Because God changed his mind in verse 3:10, despite what Malachi 3:6, Numbers 23:19 and Ezekiel 24:14 says about God never changing his mind.
Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Zechariah 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
Christians say that this prophecy is was fulfilled when Judas received 30 pieces of silver for betraying Jesus. Matthew 27:9 recites this verse, but incorrectly credits Jeremiah with the prophecy.
Matthew 1:22-23 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Again, Jesus is never referred to as Emmanuel (Immanuel).
Matthew 2:23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
Nowhere in the Old Testament is such a prophecy found, so how could such a one be fulfilled?
Matthew 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
There is no passage in the Old Testament that can be attributed to what Jesus is saying here.
Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Jesus states that all the signs marking the end of the world in Matthew 24 would be fulfilled before his generation ended. That generation ended 2000 years ago, and the world has not come to an end, neither has all those signs been fulfilled.
Matthew 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value.
This prophecy was never spoken by Jeremiah.
Matthew 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Jesus tells the high priest that he would see his second coming. The high priest is long dead, and Jesus hasn't returned yet.
Throughout the New Testament, the end of the world is prophesied as being very near, at hand, to be witnessed by those living at the time. Paul often told the people he preached to that they would be witnesses to Jesus' second coming. They are all long gone.

I sure do hope a God exists! Wouldn't that be great? It would make things very simple indeed. I would kiss the floor at his feet, all he must do is prove himself to me. Unfortunately the bible God will not come before me and show the proper proof that I as an intelligent thinking human being demand. Yes yes, I am aware that the bible states the presence of God will kill you. However this lacks any sense as well since god can do "anything" he could come in any form and say be a semi bright light or perhaps a talking bush. Literally the sky is the limit with a omnipotent creator! And yes you will also spout that we are not to "tempt" the Lord.

The God of the bible is the type of God that must be accepted on faith alone or else he will be wrathful and smite you.... is pretty much what all of you will say in response......

My goodness.... I don't think I like a God that is like that. !!! LOL!!!!

I know if I was God I wouldn't be like that! Sounds a lot like a God being used as a form of control. =(

So you disagree that plagiarism is wrong? Why didn't you give credit to the original site instead of pretending them to be your own arguments.

Secondly, you DEMAND that WE spend time refuting every single statement, while YOU only spent 5 seconds copy/pasting it. That's not a fair deal. Also, how do we know you can even understand the answers if you didn't write the questions?

Thirdly: why not just use Google to find the refutations to your argument? If YOU are not going to use your own arguments, why should we?

Fourthly: based on what moral code do you expect to be treated with respect after LYING to people? Not on a Christian moral code, that's for sure.

My full intentions are thus: to come to a forum in which I saw people spouting non factual responses to atheists and attacking them but in fact providing little facts to back themselves up except faith that the bible is 100% correct, accurate, and the word of God.

Therefore I came here to point out that in fact the bible is riddled with failed prophecies and also contradictions. Some of these contradictions can in fact be responded to, do not get me wrong, but, the bible is FILLED with them!

So anyways, I just wanted to bring some REAL information to the table. It seems most people have yet to do this. Atheists aren't all stupid people that firmly believe in no afterlife without doing some real research first. I have done research and over-all I personally have found the bible to in fact have a lot of flaws. I am simply showing people that these flaws do exist!

Am I saying don't believe in God? No..

If YOU believe in God please continue to do so, but.... don't believe in God mindlessly. Do some research. Think for yourself. Don't let any preacher pound things into your head. Believe it because YOU believe it, not because your family does etc. Faith comes from within you.

I lack faith. This is true. However... I do have a very strong hypothesis that the afterlife does in fact exist! (THANK GOD!)

This is based on my scientific testing. Actual tests I have been able to perform to attempt to ascertain the possibility of an afterlife.

It's not faith but fact. Many people have tried to disprove the Bible and failed, often while flushing their careers down the toilet as no one took them seriously anymore.

So anyways, I just wanted to bring some REAL information to the table.

Your argument is basically "go this website for alleged contradictions in the Bible". We are familiar with most atheist websites, including infidels.org, skepticsannotatedbible, etc. If you read the "noob" forum introduction thread, you would know this.

Interesting. So exactly which scientific theories did you verify personally? You also accept - based on faith - that what scientists tell you is correct. And yet, it is FACT that science is changed all the time because of factual errors. If you don't believe me, ask Albert Einstein. For hundreds of years, Newtonian Physics was the standard and Einstein was laughed at.

With every new "iteration" of scientific discovery and correction, scientists actually come closer to proving the Bible than disproving it.

Also, all positions are researched very carefully and Scripturally correct.

Ok then. This is my belief and I will tell you.

Before I head out I will tell you. I can talk with the dead. No, I do not speak with demons. I speak with those that I have loved and have passed. They still live and can even tell me about my life and about things that are going to happen.

It's amazing. I mean I can ask what will happen and bam I was told, and it is things which were completely out of my hands, things I had no control over and would never have known. I opened myself to them and the world of the spiritual. It's not like hearing a voice or anything like that exactly. It's actually VERY hard. You have to talk with the person, and then you start to get things back. Then you have to examine what you are getting back and try to figure out if it's all from you or not. (it can be hard to differentiate your own thoughts from outside ones, especially for me since this is not something I was born with.)

Spout that it is demons all you want, I fail to see the reasoning behind that. I feel that all of us, what we are is far, far more than we see and feel in this world. When we leave it, we will return to what we always were. Something limitless yet at the same time limited. We came here for a reason. I think our existence in the limitless spiritual world was in fact limited. We had to become this life form to experience the limits which we are given here. To live with no limits may not be enough. I know it is truly a vague paragraph here but this is due to the fact that I am limited.! LOL! I truly do not understand why we are here, yet, I feel we will all find out in the end.
