I dont really have a choice. I live in europe so all preasts wear "dresses" there. What i meant, is that he understands me, and doesnt chase me with a broom, because i wear black.

Goth. Goths. I just typed in the word in Google, to find pictures, information, to see the worlds view on them. And here I find this little site. A small world of opinions on this subject. It is strange to see men and women of faith on this site, strange to see fear in them. I do not claim I read all the post here, it would take too much of my time, I will only comment the first post and some I saw as sad.

It is simple. Men are animals. just like animals man fears what he doesn't understand - fears the unknown, what man fears man hates, what man hates man destroys.

It is my point of view that the man that wrote the first post doesn't understand those who claim to be "goth". Am I a goth? No, I am not. If you saw me on the street you would pass by me never remembering me or my looks. I'm just an ordinary guy. I work for my bread plus I pay for my own professional improvement, live in a flat and have a fiance who was and is an active member of catholic church. Why do I think I know more? I was there once. Alone. Forgotten. Sad and miss understood. I was what you call goth. Is being a goth an illness that can be cured by going to church, praying, chanting over a book? I say not, many of the "belivers" I know would call me insane " What illness cannot be cured by God?", well firstly not because being a goth is no illness, it's a state, a path one chooses to follow because the ones who should care for him/her do not do that.
Have you ever felt alone in a room full of people? Those who haven't I would like to congratulate, good for you. This being a site that deals with religion, one must find someone that will say " You are never alone my brother, God is with you, arround you and within your soul!". Nice. But everyone forgets we have something that makes us diferent, free will. So essentialy, when you force your child to change, you do something that not even God does, change someone's own choosing. Are you better than Him? I think not.
Another thing I found interesting here is the mention of demons and the like. I think that knowledge is power, but it seems you need to hide it well. Man accepts the existense of God and his angels, of aviours and saints. Man accepts good, but as when you take a coin with accepting it you accept the other side too. Good and evil. So if you believe in angels, thenyou must know some of their bretheren fell and became the demons. The one you call the devil the unholy was once the most beautiful of God's angels, named Lucifer, he rebeled and fell from grace, his name means the Lightbearer. He is a sidious and dark force, so how can we defend against him if we do not know about him and his unholy army? I think you should teach men and women of this world how to fend off those dark forces. I believe in the bible as being a good start to that goal, but that is not all you can do, there is more you can read. From genesis to the books of revalations deamons are present, lurking in the shadows. Learn about them to fight them. So no, reading about witches and deamons and the like do not mean you are a demon worshiper.

Black clothes... I wear them. No explanation, I just like that color.
Rock band shirts... Ummm, people, that I won't even try to explain.
Goth friends... I have a few, one of them donated his blood to save my sister, the other preaches the bible better than a priest. And one more thing, don't priest wear black...?

Drugs and alcohol, well, doctors say they kill so I guess you shouldn't use drugs (never used them myself) and considering alcohol, it is highly unlikely that your child is a goth cuz he got butt drunk last night.

Complaining on boredom... well I complain about that allot, that's cuz I don't like watching tv and believe you should do something constructive with your life, so when your friends are away and you are closed in the house, sure you'll get bored. And no, bible reading and religios talks are fun the first 3 hours but man, you sure you can talk 3 hours of virgin Mary few days a week and not feel you exausted the information? Not goth if you think that watching the fourth re-run of the 1324. episode of Santa Barbara is boring.

Disliking the sunlight... Well, just for info, my skin and eyes are highly sensitive to sunlight and because of that to be on the sunlight becomes painfull to me after some time. And no I don't think I'm a vamp I just don't like my skin being peeled off of me. not goth if you don't like the sun, it happens.

Privacy... Well if my mother thinks she's my best friend and think's she's cool i'd ask her to leave me alone too. Children that want privacy are hard ones to get too, you need to take your time, listen and be gentle. Don't go at them with the holyer than thou atitude, you are not above them, you are not better than they are but also you are not them, you do not see the world with their eyes. Be there for them, don't judge. So in this case prayers and chanting make quite the oposite effect. Pushing them avay from your fabled salvation.

Spends large amounts of time alone... Humans are sociable animals, we come in groups, but what happens when you are not well accepted in either of the groups? You become a loner. From the first to fourth grade of my elementary school I was beaten every day, laughed at and avoided. Why? Well, I was polite, had excellent grades and never made problems, but I didn't fit in. And yes, I spend ample amounts of time alone. Would you go to a group and get beaten? Again, not goth if you stay out of trouble.

adult." Ok, you think you'll always be there for your child? You think you'll be able to protect it his/her whole life? Well if you do good luck with that because that child will either hate you or becaome an incomplete person. It's easy to feed a child, but it's hard to make a strong, whise and giving person of it. Those time alone gives the child an oportunity to make it's personality, not to copy it's parents. Your vanity knows no bounds if you want your child to be like you, every man women and child has the right to be themselves. God made us similar to Him, so I guess everyone is like God. Maybe I'm wrong but my friends, where is the right to molest your child to fullfill your dreams? So no budge, not a goth if the child says " Don't you have anything else to do?"

I'm sure you don't. So before jumping to the conclusion you need to talk to your child, don't take simple answers for the real ones, your child has a reason, you as the parents are responsible to help the child figure it out. So this one I would call a failure in parenthood.

this." If your child misbehaves it's no reason to call it goth, maybe it requires more atention from you. More understanding, work less talk more, and by talking I mean a dialogue not a monologue, don't preach about God and stuff, talk about the weather, about the neighbours dog, change the subject when you see the child is unconfortable but remember this good and ask the child later about it, not the same night, but in a few days. You have troubles remembering? Write it down, because if what your child says is not important to you then you my friend are a bad parent. About the food thing. Almost raw meat is prolly included, so half of the america is goth and deamons... Beefstake. If the cardbox has a stupid picture that in comercial purposes is put there then don't blame your child if it finds it cute. In the end you bought it.

But hey, if in India you get a live monkey on your table whose head top is then choped off with a sword and served as food nothing can surprise me. Never the less, if your child exprses such behaviour praying isn't going to do much good. A vampire drinks blood in all native lores, true, but a vampire also kills his family first and then other victims as they are the mosrt accesible resource off food. A demon uses blood for rituals, so if your child isn't clinging to your neck and is not spiling blood in chants just take it to a specialist and make sure it drinks it's medicine.

Tv and games, all are alike in your eyes, but if you don't raise a whimp, that child will use it's head and not go on a killling spree in your neighbourhood expecting the people there will respawn. You are the parent, get to know your child, that's the only way you'll know what's good or bad for him/her. No priest will know your child better than you, if that happens then you have failed your duty of a parent. You alone can know what is good for your child. And by the way, this same person that is writhing all of this plays role playing games most of my life, World of warcraft included. A strong mind stays strong, a weak mind falls - both states of mind are molded by parents.

computer." ??? Umm, then why is this on the internet? So that masses can see and hear this? So is it then that the end justify the means? Excessive use of anything can lead to a disaster, even bathing can lead to severe skin deformations and that's considered good. All things must be consideren in normal messures, even faith lest we all become fanatics.

Just for information, the fabled pentagram was used for protection and was banned by the early catholic church so it could more easily overtake the old religins. Headbanging, apart from being bad for your brain and neck muscles is nothing to be feared off, if someone listens to such type of music it's neccesary. And what type of music someone listens to is again a choice of free will that God himself gave to us.

You can lead the child and watch over it but in the end the door it opens is left solely to it. And if you raised the child with a sense of counciousnes then it will find this repulsive.

"32-Expresses an interest in sex." What's wrong with that? Isn't it better that your child talks to you about it and learns than to make a mistake that will ruin it's life? I don't say it's ok to have intercourse before it's of normal age for it but information is higly valued in this field, talk to your child if it speaks of this. Better you than another missguided teenager.

"33-Masturbates" Well, you can't prevent that and I believe it's natural. Relieves stress and helps a person maintain a calm focused mind. You don't want a horny teenager, bad things happen when you do. Again, all things must be taken in apropriate messure.

"34-Is homosexual and/or bisexual" Well, it's not that I see it natural but can't say I'm against such people. We should give everyone a chance and being such don't make you a goth and i'm highly surprised why the person writing this put such a ridiculus "ominus sign".

Ok I'd have a few to say to this. Paganism is a sum of religions that is diferent from the old catholic ideas of God, includes monoteistic and polyteistic religions, so no need to include buddhism, hinduism and stuff like that. FYI baptists and catholics were considered cults in their beginings, but as all know the victors write the history. So if someone seeks enlightenment and someone seeks salvation while other seek damnation it's again free will. I don't think satanism is good in any way because you can damn your immortal soul to eternal suffering but i don't see anything wrong in buddhism because it strives to bring peace trough contemplation. Learn about everything trust nothing but yourself.

For the conclusion, goths are not people who are to be hated, they are people who think this is the only way to become a part of a group if they can't become the part of a society. Don't preach to them, talk to them. Don't hate them pitty them. Don't judge them, you are christians, help them. Are you two faced, don't you need to live what you preach? If you are not up to it then don't judge. I don't quote the bible, I don't call for the wrath of heavens, if Jesus din't ask the wrath of heavens to fall upun his killers then why do you judge? Five or more? Mental care facility? Get serious, You people would rather put your child into an asylum than talk to it? And this is the religion in world? I come from a small country, most don't even know it exists but it seems that God is more present here than in any of your hearts and heads.

It must be tough for you to live by rules that are too complicated to explain. We live by God's Rules, which are quite easy to comprehend and follow. All you have to do is read the Holy KJV Bible, take it as written, and do what it says. Simplest thing in the world, friend.
