We have free will. This means that we may do as we are told, or we may not. Whatever the case the Lord knows in advance what we are going to do.

Actually, I'm happily married to a wonderful man who does not try to determine my spiritual path for me any more than I would try to determine his for him. He has his path, I have mine. Sometimes they overlap, sometimes they parallel, and sometimes they cross. And it's all good.

I don't believe that the body is inherently evil, dirty, or sinful. We choose what actions our bodies will perform. So I guess in your either/or world, that makes me One. I simply am. i choose what actions I will take. I choose how I will respond to events that happen to me. And yes, those events and choices have a majr role in shaping who I am.

What else shapes who you are? Is the rest inborn? Did it come from God?

I think we're born pretty much a blank slate. Our responses to initial experiences are shaped to a large extent by what we are taught by parents. As we mature and our circle of acquaintances expands, we have more experiences, and we learn more possible ways to respond. We choose which of the possible responses we will use.
