  • Which part of the Bible should I start at reading? Help please.

As you may know from my introduction thread, my life until recently has been rather a disappointment to the Lord. Sister Lola has given me a link to Biblegateway while I await the arrival of my KJV 1611.

But if you'll forgive my relative ignorance of a fair whack of the Holy Scriptures, I'd like to know how to use them properly. I intend it to be my bedtime reading and I was wondering about the best way to use the Good Words. Should I start right at the beginning of Genesis, or should I take another book to start with? Should I just open it randomly - though I heard that Presbyterians and Mormons do that stuff - to find what He wants from me?

Advice appreciated please. In the meantime, I'll start at the beginning.

I'd like some pointers here if possible.

Well friend, there's an easy answer: Brother V.'s Bible in a Year program.

    No doubt about it.

You just start reading Genesis 1-3 and work your way up from there, guided by the incredibly helpful and thoughtful comments from Brother V. himself.

    In the beginning, it began!

It doesn't get much better than that, Lost Sheep.
    Psalm 81:10:
I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Thank you brother. I think that's what He wants me to do. I'll get on it. Thanks for the link.

Reading the Bible before sleeping is always a good idea, in case GOD decides to kill you in the night.

I would also recommend reading the Bible as soon as you wake up, during the afternoon, and whenever else it is possible. It's the only thing a Christian actually needs to read.

The Word of God can be had for free if you just visit your local Independant Baptist Church and ask the Pastor for one. Make sure you ask specifically for a KJV1611 Authorized Version Bible.

Also you can read one online at www.biblegateway.com, as has been pointed out to you. And as Brother Wide-Open has mentioned, for your assisted reading pleasure Brother V has got a wonderful thread going HERE called "Bible in a Year."
