Here in the Godforsaken wens of Oregon the state legislature has legalized homosexual domestic partnership. Our misgovernment has officially given its stamp of approval to perversion, deviance, abominations, corruption, and sin.

Governor Kulongoski has personally spit right in Christ's eye.

Now if one fuggort has a good job, and the God smites his partner in sin with a sickness so that his bowels fall out day by day (as He smote King Jehoram), then the first fuggort can make his employer's health insurance pay to fix his partner's faulty innards.

That's just wrong! If God wants to smite a fuggort with a sore disease of the bowels then the government has NO BUSINESS interfering with the smiting process! Let 'em die, that's what the government should do!

Marriage is between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN (except in the case of Solomon, in which case it was between ONE KING and 700 WOMEN).

There is a war on. It is a war against timeless, eternal moral values. God's law never changes. If we just look at history, that is obvious.

In the 1200s Christians knew the Bible said to kill witches, and so they kilt them.

In the 1400s Christians knew the Bible said slavery is OK, so they had slaves.

God's law is timeless, unchanging, and eternal, and that's how we know that in the 21st century honoring same-sex marriage is against God's law. You can't just walk away from scripture because the culture of the day says the laws in scripture are inegalitarian. If you do that, then you admit that Christianity is subservient to society, that the laws Jesus said shall never change are in fact as changeable as hemlines, and -- ultimately -- that God is nothing but a cultural artifact.

That is why the war to preserve one-man one-woman marriage is important. It is a fight between those who know God's law has always been eternal and immutable, and those who worship the Enlightenment idea that man can better his social lot.

MARRIAGE! It's not for goats, it's for ONE MAN ---> ONE WOMAN!

But back to the topic: We Christians are smart enough to know right from wrong. Christians are wise enough not to fall into the same-sex marriage trap. We are concerned about everyone else -- about people who are stupider than we are. We Christians are better than everyone else, and so we have a moral right -- no, a moral duty! -- to tell our spiritual and intellectual inferiors what they can and can't do.

If you saw your neighbor doing something you know is foolish and wrong -- hooking up his car battery to his toddler, say -- then do you not have a moral obligation to stop him? With compassionate wisdom you might shout, "Hey! Don't do that! You're gonna fry the kid!"

Just so do Christians -- who are wiser and better than everyone else -- have a moral obligation to shout, "Hey! Don't allow gay marriages! You're gonna fry in Hell!"

That's just the way the universe is. All the atheists and deists and humanists have no cause to get their knickers all in a knot about it. It's all quite simple, really.

Hooking a kid up to a car battery will undeniably do harm to the child, quite likely kill him. It's an immediate threat to his well-being, and you do have a moral obligation to stop it.

Allowing consenting adults of the same sex to marry does not harm anyone, so there is no reason to forbid it.

Sure it causes harm: every fundamentalist Christian knows that it causes the participants to be separated from God, to be denied eternal life in Heaven, and to be damned to Hell. Every Christian knows that.

Just because atheists, humanists, and various flavors of spiritualists don't know it does not mean that it's not true, eh?

So here's where the chicken crosses the road: Christianity makes claims about objective truth. It says that "Such-and-so is universally, absolutely true." In the case to hand, Christianity says that homosexuality is an abomination before an external, absolutely real God -- Christians say that this is a fact which is objectively true.

Now suppose you, as an enlightened agnostic, say: "But there is no scientific evidence supporting the claim that a universal moral authority abominates homosexuality -- no objective, verifiable evidence that God exists all."

The Christian will quite quickly retort that God cannot be proven or disproven by science because He is a spiritual truth and dwells in a realm inaccessible to science -- immune to objective investigation.

Now, I expect you to be smart enough to see the rational disconnect here.

But why should you care about it? Why should it make you worried and angry?

The following is from a conference hosted by Worldview Weekend and American Vision, very powerful, very politically influential God-fearing Jesus-loving Christian organizations. Gary DeMar was the keynote speaker.

“We know,” said DeMar, “that You are a sovereign and omniscient God…. We know that You have called us to be responsible servants in the advancement of your kingdom through the proclamation of the gospel and the application of your word in every area of life.”

One of the other speakers, Gary Cass, offered a dire picture of a country that is doomed unless it embraces a rigid form of government led by fundamentalist Chris*tian edicts.

“We need a new American vision,” said Cass, “because we’ve lost our biblical heritage, our Christian birthright, which has been given to us by our founders, we have squandered for a poisonous bowl of atheistic humanism and political correctness. And now our culture is experiencing its deadly effects. The putrid stench of the culture of death fills our living rooms, coming to us every night on the evening news. And this Worldview weekend, I believe, is the antidote for the culture of death.”

And what is the agenda for these Godly men?

In a conference handout, American Vision states that “By God’s grace, we will work together to make America a truly Christian nation for our children’s children.”

...American Vision also produces reams of material that push Christian Reconstructionism, a form of fundamentalism that argues for a re-writing of American history, dismantling secular democracy and constructing an America governed by “biblical law.” Reconstructionists seek to impose the criminal code of the Old Testament, applying the death penalty for homosexuals, adulterers, fornicators, witches, incorrigible juvenile delinquents and those who spread false religions. (emphasis added)
