      @ Mr. Jingles

"He says he only smokes marijuana; in truth, he's probably injecting it by now."

That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard....ever.

      @ Pastor Ezekiel

It is physically impossible to overdose on marijuana.

"Drug addicts are by nature immoral and depraved."

You probably also believe homosexuals and jews are the soldiers of satan.

"If dope is so good for you, then why is it illegal?"

If slavery/segregation is wrong than why was it legally and government sanctioned for so long?

Who ever said that slavery is wrong? God sanctions slavery in the Holy Bible! If it's good enough for God, it's good enough for America!

That's just one of the many reasons why we are working so hard to have the Holy Bible replace the U.S. Constitution as the law of the land. GLORY!!

Well that just is not true, you could not go out and find information from a serious website actually saying a drug like Crystal Meth is good for you. In fact looking up legal drugs such as alcohol or cigarettes would yield very few defensive arguments. Now although marijuana can be addictive it's quite low, in fact lower than caffeine and alcohol. Can you honestly say you support the use and legalization of alcohol or cigarettes?

Now as to why marijuana is illegal, it's hard exactly why it's illegal. It has been for quite sometime however a lot of states are now realizing it's use for medicinal purposes. So why is it illegal, that something I'd like you to tell me.

Because we believe in telling the truth here. God's truth may be hard to swallow, but it's better than what awaits you in the eternal abyss down in hell if you continue to take dope and mock Jesus.

This thread is about the sodomite dope addict Michael Phelps, not tobacco or alcohol. If you wish to have a Bible-based discussion on that subject, please make a thread of your own and lay out your position.

I will remind you all that this is NOT a debate forum. Keep a respectful tongue in your head or we'll have to ask you to go.

                      Re: Pray for Michael Phelps

That's a very good question. There are many complex answers.

First, marijuana illegality only came around in 1931. Before that time it was legal. However, in many nations it still is legal, and in several US states it is being approved for dying patients because of it's proven medical implications. As America is a religious and proud nation founded on stable Puritan values is a part. As for why it was banned in 1931, I'll cover some reasons.

Because Marijuana was used in the twenties as a tool for Jazz musicians to use in excess, the main driving political force was used for two parts. The first being politicians who lobbied to have it made illegal in order to punish the black populous using the drug. Because it was never used by middle class individuals on a wide-scale until the 1960's when the drug picked up, it was only natural that the law was passed through partial racism.

The other part to this was that at the time there were no true studies done on the substance at all. This means that there was a looming perception of harm, when no reliable and unbiased madical or scientific studies had been done at the time.

There were also interests of big companies that pushed for production of other clothing materials apart from hemp. If marijuana were illegal in cannabis form, it would be perfect to ban hemp production in the United States to safeguard clothing interests and the cotton industry (even though hemp isn't capable of getting someone high because it does not contain any alkaloid that can do so).

There was also competition with alcohol after the ending of alcohol prohibition. To ensure alcohol production was safely integrated into society, the alcohol industry did extensive lobbying to have marijuana use back-burnered to ensure fluidity of sales. Competition from marijuana would be bad for would end up being a booming industry.

                      Still with me?

The American government employs millions of extra police officers in order to ensure Marijuana is illegal. You'd be interested in knowing one of the major proponents against marijuana through political lobbying is the Prison Guard Union. Since millions of Americans go to jail for marijuana cultivation and use, the union needs to protect it's laws. Follow the money!

Ever since the negative Reefer Madness propaganda of the 1920's, it's created a snowball effect. It's now blown up into the DARE program and other government-funded programs that group marijuana with more potentially dangerous substances like heroin or methamphetamine.

Back to the racism issue, it was given the name "marijuana" because it scared many Americans. It could have been named "Cannabis", but Mexicans were considered a big threat to American sovereignty, so they demonized the drug to ensure grouping the drug to the racial group would be a great success in keeping it illegal.

This is not copied and pasted, so if you'd like I can give you more reasons.

If we were to believe everything the Bible states as complete truth, well I wouldn't want to imagine that life. However I will not argue the truth of the Bible (as it is easily mistaken, especially when the stories of the bible are passed down through word of mouth). I will revert you to the Golden Rule of Christianity, which is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Well can you honestly say that you would like to have someone enslave you? If so then I suggest you try being a slave and see if you enjoy it enough to say that it's morally right to have slaves.

The Bible tells us to obey secular law. It is not illegal to go to a bar and smoke cigarettes. Taking dope is.

Why are you coming into a Christian forum to defend illegal drug use? I suppose you're a sodomite as well? Are you here representing satan?

Where do you get this "sodomite" stuff from? Nobody brought that up except for you, sir.

If the bible tells you to obey secular law, then you'd say marijuana is okay if it's legal? That's a double standard, because you told me I required "answers from scripture" to accommodate you. I bring you fact-driven scientific studies and you shake them away.

Nowhere in the bible does it say marijuana use is prohibited. You seem to be putting secular law above your own religious beliefs.
