Now as to why marijuana is illegal, it's hard exactly why it's illegal. It has been for quite sometime however a lot of states are now realizing it's use for medicinal purposes. So why is it illegal, that something I'd like you to tell me.

As for why it was banned in 1931, I'll cover some reasons.

Because Marijuana was used in the twenties as a tool for Jazz musicians to use in excess, the main driving political force was used for two parts. The first being politicians who lobbied to have it made illegal in order to punish the black populous using the drug. Because it was never used by middle class individuals on a wide-scale until the 1960's when the drug picked up, it was only natural that the law was passed through partial racism.

What I don't see on this thread are prayers of thanks for Sheriff Leon Lott of Richland County South Carolina for his relentless effort to persecute prosecute Michael Phelps to the full extent of the law. While his efforts to imprison Michael Phelps were unsuccessful, he was able to nab several local dopers and throw them in jail. The streets of my beloved Richland County are now safer. We should all be thankful for the Godly Sheriff's upholding of the law. I personally pray that Jesus blesses all Godly American communities with a Sheriff just like him.

I am conflicted as to whom I support, but I have a question for all you non pot-heads.

God, in all his glory, created everything we see; plants, animals, everything. I do not doubt his divine glory, I doubt man.
Man has made many errors, is it not possible that condemning one of God's own plants could be a human mistake and not the will of God?

I have read many of the articles mentioned by the aforementioned pot-heads, and researched many of the claims that they presented; and my finding is that there is a lot of confusion about the reality of cannabis. It's medical and industrial uses as a fabric, paper, and fueling oil are real; yet, like alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine it can be abused. Yet, Noah (one of God's greatest saints) was drunken and naked when Ham gazed upon him in Gen. 9: 20-27. His drunkenness was an abuse of alcohol. But alcohol is not forbidden. It is the error of man's use of the drink that makes it bad, not the drink itself. I believe this to also be true of cannabis. Its uses are many, its ability to be used as a medicine and an industrial tool are great, but like alcohol, it can be abused.

Yes, it is illegal, but many of the reasons it was made illegal are false. As I mentioned earlier, man is not perfect and can make mistakes. It was not God who forbid the use, it was man.

So my final question is why should we not pray for Michael Phelps? He is a man, and he made a mistake - he abused a substance that is no more harmful than alcohol and is not forbidden by the bible but by man (an only in certain places in the world, not everywhere). To err is human, to forgive is divine.

I don't insist, just a request.
I feel bad that he is placed in a position that the nation now identifies him as a drug user and a pot-head when he is just a young man, making a mistake many young men make. There are many people that found God only after the abuse of drugs, but they are often embraced with open arms once they have converted. Why must Michael be held at a higher standard? He's just a kid. We all make mistakes, isn't that why God's message is of compassion and forgiveness, not spite?
