With the news that the Apophis asteroid is going to get really close to us in 2029 that makes me worry because people are saying that 7 years later (The sabbath year) it has a very good chance of hitting us and destroying us all in the fires of hell. I pray to God that he delivers us from that horrible day and saves that fate for all the sinners and non-believers in the world.

The head of Russia's federal space agency has said it will work to divert an asteroid which will make several passes near the Earth from 2029.
Anatoly Perminov told the Voice of Russia radio service that the agency's science council would hold a closed meeting to discuss the issue.
Any eventual plan is likely to be an international collaboration, he said.
The US space agency said in October that there is a one-in-250,000 chance of Apophis hitting Earth in 2036.
That announcement was a significant reduction in the probability of an impact, based on previous calculations that put the chances at about one-in-45,000. The asteroid is estimated to pass within about 30,000 km of the Earth in 2029.
Mr Perminov, who is the chief of Roscosmos, gave little detail of any plans that the agency has, but was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying that the solution would not entail the use of nuclear weapons.
Other schemes that have been put forth in the past for diverting asteroids from collision courses include spacecraft that nudge the space rocks out of their trajectory through force, or diverting them with "solar sails" that use the wind of particles ejected from the Sun.
"People's lives are at stake," Mr Perminov reportedly told the radio service Golos Rossii (Voice of Russia).
"We should pay several hundred million dollars and build a system that would allow us to prevent a collision, rather than sit and wait for it to happen and kill hundreds of thousands of people."

I for one am not worried about a tiny asteroid. I believe in God and I know he will protect me. I am a True Christian. I know God will not let it hit the USA. It will probably hit some country no one cares about.

He is causing this space pebble to race towards earth at 200,000 mph to attempt to scare the heathens into repenting. That is why for those of us in His good graces are not concerned.

^Right, and the asteroid, after it hits, oh lets say China, will stop directly at the borders and harm no other such country. If an asteroid large enough hits the Earth, you're all going to die, not just some country you have a grudge against.

There is no asteroid in the Bible. Please don't come here with "If" scenerios. This is not a debate forum.

"If" you fell backwards onto a sharp stick and it penetrated your rectum you would have to go to the hospital. If while they were sewing you up at the hospital you contracted a flesh eating virus that destroyed your lower colon and then moved onto each of your major organs - you would die. But that is not likely so there is no point of me bringing it up.

Go find a science forum to take your asteroid to. It's not in the Bible.

I thought that True Christians did not believe in outer space or asteroids. Won't the asteroid just bounce off of the hard firmament.

It should be easy enough to avoid. All we have to do is get NASA to turn the flat earth sideways, allowing the asteroid to skip harmlessly past us.

But don't you dare raise my taxes to pay for it....
