Well my father always told me that an open hand was correction a closed fist was abuse, but then again he was always rather soft on mom.

A slap is handy when you need a quick fast correction but I am always concerned about leaving bruises, especially on the face. So I prefer to hit somewhere less bruisable. Or at least can be explained off by the dogs.

With the lie-beral judicial system we have these days it is always ''the husbands fault'' I do think that things were much simpler in our grand parents time. A judge could offer common sense in the courtroom not offer cookie cutter justice! Evidence of that fact-

The only part I disagree with is "exhaust all other options first".

It's best to start off with a slap or two. Then you don't have to worry about "other options".

For example: I came home from a hard days work and Mrs. Christ started complaining about something, bla bla bla SLAP
And now I don't have to worry about "other options" to shut her up.

Don't be surprised if one day you wake to find yourself handcuffed to the headboard, soaked in gasoline, and the Missus standing by the bed with a flamethrower.

Have you ever noticed how extremist liebrals are? One slap and you're a "wife-beater". They cannot (or will not) understand the difference between correction and abuse. Trust me a good slap to bring a woman out of her nagging or hysterical tirade is not abuse. My wife thanks me for it once she calms down. I believe it also gives the boys a lesson in obeying their mother. Don't obey her and you'll have to deal with me.

Sorry but every time I have had to put the back of my hand across the "puff adder's" face she has always apologised afterwards therefore my actions are correct, God's will is always correct.

If a man has to resort to hitting his wife it is because he has not loved her in the first place, because love and appreciation mellows even the most contentious wife. There is nothing that takes the fight out of a woman like looking at her and talking to her like she is in fact the most important creature in the entire world. And make her do the dishes with a smile on her face to boot! I've seen it work countless times. I advocate the path of least resistance in these matters.

To think that beatings breeds gratitude is seriously misguided. Kindness begets kindness, violence begets violence. Do unto others, this is the entire law and the prophets. Be nice to women and they will be nice to you. Appreciate them and they will smile at you. Humble yourself before them and tell them they are the greatest creation in all of God's wonders, and you will not only get a smile, possibly a tear and most likely marital intimacy.

THAT'S wisdom. Whether you accept it or not.
