2 Tim 3:16 is one of my favourite verses because it requires us to take notice of all the Scriptures - those about the wrath and jealousy of God as well as those about the love of God.

God requires perfection from us, that is what the Law is about, that is why we see sinful people being destroyed in the Old Testament. It is the reason for the universal flood, for Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt and all the other examples of sinful people being destroyed.

GLORY friend, the same thing is happening in our America; because so many people have turned their back on our loving Heavenly Father with atheism, feminism, immigration, broken marriages, tax theft, evolution, idolatry, abortions, paganism, racism, unions, pornography, model railroading, murder, socialism, teen pregnancies, and homosexuality that God is FORCED to punish America with all the ills we see today (dare we say Obama tribulation presidency?) We all need to turn back to Jesus because our cities are laid waste and we find ourselves in some kind of Max Max post apocalypse wasteland.

If our salvation depended on us keeping the whole Law none of us would be safe from the wrath of God. For all have sinned (Rom 3:23).

But Jesus instituted a New Covenant/Testament (Lk 22:20). Having lived a perfect life He died on the cross, bearing all our sins and the wrath of God so that we, in accepting His sacrifice for ourselves can be forgiven for all our sins.

As Paul said, we are no longer under Law but Grace (Rom 4:16, Rom 5:20, Rom 6:14-15, Gal 2:21, Gal 5:4). And John says, For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (Jn 1:17).

"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." Gal 5:14. And who is my neighbour? "Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise." Lk 10:36-37 Keeping the law is about love.

I believe in Hell and I believe the godless will go there. I am no wishy washy liberal. But I also believe in redemption and salvation as taught throughout Scripture (eg Ps 51). It is the free gift of God and not by works (Rom 4). "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph 2:8-9.

Having had my sins forgiven and having experienced the love and grace of God, it is my heart's desire to live a life of obedience to Him. I am motivated by love not fear. The Law teaches us what sin is and should put us in fear of the wrath of God. It drives us to the cross, to repentance and to casting ourselves on the gracious mercy of God through the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is the Gospel, the Good News. (Gal 3:23-25)

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. I did not say the woman had not sinned. of course she had. And so had the man she was caught with who the men failed to bring to trial as they should have.

Here's the thing, the Lord Jesus Christ, being without sin and being God, had the right to condemn her but chose not too. That's my point. HE FORGAVE HER.

As for the quote from 1 Tim, try reading it in the original Greek rather than in a translation authorised by a 17th Century British king whose sole interest in getting the translation done was to promote the Church of England and diminish the Biblical evidence for orthodox evangelical doctrine. It was a political expedient to help him keep the crown. In many ways it was a good translation but it does have major weaknesses, not the least being that some of the words it uses have changed their meaning in the past 400 years! Not to mention the "unicorns" which is clearly an error.

Now, I really am going to stop posting here as I have better things to do than debate with close minded, self-oppinionated so-called Christians who seem to understand nothing about the gospel of our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace and Love incarnate. I genuinely do pray that you will understand the good news of the Saviour who forgives those who truly repent. And I commend to you Paul's epistle to the Galatians which speaks so clearly and powerfully of the liberty we have in Christ.

Seems a darned sight more direct and to the point and specifically about how women shoud behave to me than your out of context parade of lack of understanding.

For example, Jesus is not saying the woman had not sinned and did not deserve to die; he is saying that nobody there present was fit to stone her and left her alive to make a point.

He's also rebuking the disciples and the other men present for being shown up by a sinful woman who was repenting, not saying she is above them for having washed his feet.

Has some antichrist woman been preaching to you?
