As a person who is struggling wit my own religiosity, may I ask - what is it specifically that you didn't like in the Bible? The misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, or just the general cruelty of genocides, slavery and other forms of oppression?...

What I have no respect for is having beliefs crammed down my throat and being told to "take it or burn in hell".

You came to our forum. We did not go to yours. And while we discuss all manner of specifics about the Bible, we understand that you and everyone in the world has the right to reject its words.


The only belief that we are even the tiniest bit guilty of "cramming down" anyone's throat is that you have to take the Bible in its entirety. Any attempt to filter its contents is dishonest. Any claims to being a believer in the Biblical God while wrangling out of obeying His Holy Word is rank hypocrisy.


We are very strict about this basic "all or nothing" concept vis a vis the Bible. We will hammer home that point until the cows come home--or Jesus returns, whichever is first.


Even then, while we maintain our uncompromising stance of the Whole Bible and nothing but the Whole Bible, we make our stand here, on our own forum. If you come here and read what we have to say, then by taking in our words, you are the one "cramming" something down your own throat.


It's really silly to come here, read what we write and discuss, then jump in and say that we're being too aggressive about our religion. It's sort of like eavesdropping on a conversation that really isn't any of your business, and then getting all huffy and insisting that we stop talking. All you have to do is stop listening.


In fact, we even tell people that the unsaved aren't welcome, and then people get all worked up about that!

If someone has a Trump sign on their lawn, and a "No Trespassing" sign on their front door, do you bang on the door, push it open when someone answers, march into their living room and start lecturing them on why they are wrong to like Trump? That's much closer to the definition of "cramming something down somebody's throat". It may also be legally defined as "home invasion" but we'll table that discussion for now.

Still, I hold my views. Oppression and sexism are a big no to me. I've tried believing, trust me, but I just can't. If I can hold my views (and my badly timed sarcastic humour), I may try to find a way again, though.

I came to prove that a game isn't as bad as it's made out to be. Literally, I see the point where a death obsessed high functioning psychopath is seen as a follower of Jesus... Just a tad strange. Then it turned bad. Fast. I mean, REALLY fast.

Well, if you ever do want to believe, I highly recommend this lovely community. I know they seem a bit abrasive at first, but it's the only church I know of that actually sticks to what the Bible says instead of ignoring 90% of it.

I kind of just wish it could be seen in a balanced way. I just feel like there's something enjoyable that's being read into too much. I tried to prove too much for a simple form of entertainment, so yeah, I'm done. I'm just going to start over.

You might benefit from learning some basic rules of argumentation. They might help you get your message through. What we have here is a simple appeal to pity or an argument ad misericordiam. Instead of tackling the actual issues (Jesus and His word in the Bible) you're basically just expressing your distress of people not accepting your views at face value (i.e., without you citing any support from Jesus and the Bible).

Ad misericordiam is a fallacy as it does nothing to resolve the actual issue. In addition, it is not the best strategy to discuss things with God.

No one wants to ban you, dear. We want you to join us in our dedication to True Christianity(tm). After you come to a full understanding of what the Bible really says and what it has to offer humanity, you can share that knowledge with others. Think how much more you and your father would have in common if he knew the Truth(tm) about God's Holy Word.


When you let that Truth(tm) wash over you, your mind is free from the fear of hell. And when the people that you love have their eyes opened as well, you don't have to fear for their eternal souls and they don't have to fear for yours.

Dear Brother Doctor White;

It has come to my attention that the people who created this Overwatch game have identified one of the characters as a lesbian.


All along, the game defenders have said that it's not the developers but the fans who come up with all the icky sex stuff, but clearly that is not true. Forgive me for introducing such a distasteful subject, but I know that the spiritual leaders of Landover would want to be kept up to date regarding this Deeply Serious and Monumentally Critical Concern.


Meanwhile, I'll keep praying like a good Christian woman.

Why would we ban a person who still has a chance, albeit tiny, to reconcile things with Jesus and get to Heaven! All our efforts would have been useless.

Of course, you can always take the choice of logging off and closing the tab. It's called free will. People are notorious, as they usually abuse it (Genesis 3:6). What are you going to do with your free sill? One option is to choose Jesus!
