    You mentioned a character who wants to "make the world a better place through technology". How has memorizing information about an entertainment franchise helped to make the world any better? How has it made your own life any better in any substantive way?


    Many people find Landover Baptist offensive. At least we are trying to help the world see the Truth(tm) about the Bible and how it has been used to change the world. Hate us if you will. But at least the information we share matters.


    If Overwatch went away tomorrow, no one's life would be poorer, except for the people raking in the big bucks coming up with names and backstories and graphic content that the gamers are charging to their parents' credit cards.

              You know people defend what they like and that is what I choose you love your bible stories and I like my video game stories. People don't play games just because it's fun these games bring people together because of the story just like the Bible the Bible brings people together and so do video games and like this people want to ban it because it displays something they don't like. If you don't like it then don't pay attention to it.

                    I don't pay attention to video games. You and the other keyboard warriors stormed our forum because someone said something negative about an entertainment activity. Essentially, I'm paying attention to you, not your game.

And would you be prepared to deliver a lengthy dissertation on the history of pizza and a discussion on the sourcing of the ingredients?

Believe me, your pathetic hobby and your pointless devotion to its inane details don't really alarm me all that much. After all, other than stunting your own physical and psychological development, what harm can you do?


                    The Bible, on the other hand, has actually effected the world. It has inspired its share of charity and more than its share of real, physical harm .                       Yes the Bible has affected the world and so have video games but you think in the negative ways but people from all over the world talk and play video games like if I played a game I could play with someone on the other side of the world and maybe become friends. But you think video games are all a waste of time but you probably have not played a game and experienced what these people defending this game has, you think video games are vile and need to be destroyed and you think it makes people who play them mindless beings but they are still people. Us mindless beings have friends from all over the world. Gamers are the most social people because we talk to people all over the world and with this I think I shall be done here.

                          I never said that you were not people. But you and your sociable friends may not be able to change the world in the way that the Bible believers will. And yet, you will be the ones most directly effected by those changes.


                          Remember this: real friendships, real relationships and real change come about from real world interaction. And I am writing this as someone who has been limited by circumstance to being part of an online community and trying to impact other's thinking through the only medium available to me.


                          You have arms and legs and (presumably) the energy of youth to make your way in the world. Are you making your way in the world? Or are you making believe in a world that some game developers crafted? And who is paying for all your equipment and game access, anyway?


                          One final question. Have you ever had to sacrifice anything that you wanted in order to have something that you (or someone else) desperately needed? Unless you can answer yes, then your game characters are living more worthwhile lives than you ever have.

                            I have recently read both of your posts regarding the supposed satanic inclinations of the video game: Overwatch, I had purchased the game a few weeks ago and have enjoyed it, initially when I happened to stumble across this post, I was shocked, I had read it, and found that 99.99% of what you have said is.... (drumroll please) INACCURATE. I will not go through each and every overview of each hero as they are easily proven wrong with just a little bit of research, however, there are some that are very wrong and is clearly just ignorance, those being Mercy, Genji, and Zenyatta.
                            Let me get the easiest one one out of the way first, that one being: Mercy. Overwatch is set in the future with technology far superior than our own, they have sentient robots, talking apes, and the game has a very futurisitc feel to it, so Mercy's revival ultimate is clearly not witchcraft or sorcery, and according to the in-game lore, Mercy is a world renowned surgeon and is a driving force in the development of medical technology, so, no. Mercy's ultimate is NOT witchcraft but a result of cutting edge technology.
                            Now, on to Zenyatta and Genji, these two also have a rather philisophical side to their backstories, Zenyatta IS NOT a hippy, far from it, he has several ties to the religions of Buddhism and Christianity, mainly Buddhism, Zenyatta rejected the dogmatic ways of teaching that the other Omnic Monks had adopted and began roaming the world to give guidance and wisdom to those who needed it, he stumbled upon Genji and took him in as a disciple. Genji, having been cut down by his brother Hanzo had most of his limbs replaced with cybernetic replacements, this left Genji feeling as though he was an amalgimation of flesh and machine, Zenyatta, who helped form the first group of Omnic Monks who felt as though they had a sort of "Spiritual Awakening" helped guide Genji through his tough time using his experience of having dealt with a situation very similar to his disciple's. Both characters felt as if though they were much more than just machines, one gaining that feeling, and one having lost it. So? What's REALLY satanic about this? Honestly, it's much more holy than what you think it is, it's helping your fellow man, uh, robot.... You get the point.

                              Your post is 809 in this thread. Perhaps not half, but at least a third of the posts have all contained the same pointless explanation about all the make believe characters in your beloved game.


                              Please know that I say this with utter and absolute snarkiness.

                              The official position of this forum is that Bible is the absolute ground of truth for human existence. Everything, including games, is measured by its judgments. A game is good if it glorifies the God of the Bible. If it does not do so, then it is deemed-- at best, as a distraction from the sole purpose of life, which AGAIN is to glorify God-- at worst, it may be condemned as truly sinful if it deceives people with false teachings.


                              To a fully committed Bible-believer, Buddhism is a false religion. All false religions are the premise of the original deceiver, Satan. Therefore, the game cannot be holy in any way, shape or form (I just know that I have used that phrase before in this thread--great--now I'm starting to repeat myself.)


                              If you have really read the Bible, you would know that it is not really about helping your fellow man. It is about--(drumroll, please ). . . Glorifying God. Yes, sometimes God commands His followers to help some of their fellow men, other times He commands them to exterminate them and take over their real estate. Occasionally, He orders His people to enslave their fellow men (and women and children). Other times, a simple shunning is all that is required.


                              The point is, God has a lot of expectations, and getting on His bad side NEVER goes well. Therefore, someone who really wants to obey God--the one that the Bible actually describes, not the one that mainstream Christianity has air-brushed into soft-focused fluffiness--would want to avoid any activities that deviate from a strict adherence to His Word.


                              So, Mr. Sk_whatever, unless you can literally cite chapter and verse from the actual Bible proving the Overwatch won't get someone in trouble with God, the wise believer will take a pass and not play it. And frankly, if you even made a lame attempt to tie some verse from the Bible to any aspect of this discussion, I would consider throwing you a parade for getting within a mile of understanding what this forum is really about.


                              For some reason, I don't think that I will have to book any marching bands.
