real role plays based on a make-believe story line.

Okay, here's a scenario.
I make a game based on 'god'. (Inverted comas because I'm an agnostic)
I base this game on the Christian Dark Ages.
I make the main character a Christian Knight, who "In Gods Name" smites and burns peoples homes and lands, pillages (STEALS FROM) their villages, and sends the world into a dark, un-prosperous time for 200 years.

All in "The Name of God"

...sound familiar?
Oh wait, the basis of my game is the foundation of REAL HISTORY!
All that actually happened...

So what's the problem here?
Oblivion, if anything, instills good morals on youth that play it.
And, for your information, it's rated MA 15+ for a reason.

And, here's the kicker, It's Made Up!

You fight for the Emperor of the lands, you're fighting the Daedra, or Demons.

You people are so narrow in your thought process when you instantly blam anything that goes against your un-wavering view of Christianity, and another moral groups decision to express their views, and make a game based on their moral decisions in life, that you fail to see the other side of the argument.

You throw words and accusations freely at us for defending Oblivion, and anything else that constitutes our decisions on how we choose to live our lives, saying we're "Evil people" and "Hateful"... I believe I'm far from it, as an example.

I may not believe in god, but I'd say I live a moral and ethical life?
In my opinion at least anyway... but remember, everyones opinion is SUBJECTIVE. You know that word?

But as soon as I say, "I don't believe in god, I believe you're wrong in your beliefs" (Which is simply me stating my opinion) I'm SURE at least five Christians would descend on me, condeming my opinion, telling me I'll Burn in Hell, or the like... I once had a Christian respond to my statement of almost the same sentence as above with some of the most hateful and condemning remarks I've ever heard... But I'm sure it was justified...right?

Amazing how hypocritical you can be, without even realizing it...

Oh, and one more thing before I go...

Doesn't the Baptist religion, thrive on the idea that a child should be allowed to grow to come of age where they can make their own justified decision about what religion, if any, to follow, before they are Baptized?

(Assuming they decide to become another Baptist)

So, on that note, wouldn't it be safe to assume that Baptists are happy to accept others moral judgments, and their decisions on what and how they let things affect their life?

Since, you allow people to CHOOSE how their life is 'run'.

(And I say run, because, if you follow the teachings of the bible, to the letter as I'm sure some of you do, then you're basically letting your beliefs influence your decision making process... therefor it 'runs' part of your life)

And there you have the fundamental reason that I don't subscribe to any religion. I like to allow my choices to be my own.

And I might add, I do that in as much as I like to let others decide their own paths in life. You all want to be Baptists, or Christians, or whatever, that's fine by me. But don't pressure others into your narrow mindedness... and for 'gods sake', to coin the phrase, be accepting of others choices...

"Condemned to hell, to be sure" is not a good way to advertise your willingness to accept others views.

Because not all of us like to believe that living in this lifetime should be spent Auditioning for the next one...

I've noticed a large increase of viewers on this thread, and did you notice something about every person that defends this Satanic garbage? They are atheist/agnostic. What's that say to you about this game? Surely it is not leading children to Christ!

It is indeed frightening that so many people actually play this game. And people wonder why there is so much violence in this world?

First of all I don't mind being called unsaved trashed I have been called worse by some of my close friends. But about the game if it is so demonic how did it not possess you members of this forum. I just glad to see someone still plays Oblivion. Myself I have moved on to better things like Fallout 3, another great Bethesda game if you feel like Oblivion just doesn't do it for you anymore check out Fallout 3. I read through some older posts read something about males using female characters are living there transvestite lives in the video game world. So does that mean if you play Tomb Raider or any others with a female lead make you a transvestite.

What I did find most offending was when i read that if you do not go to your baptist church your are going to hell I don't remember reading where Jesus said you must go to Landover Baptist Church. More so than that is what I read about exorcising Homosexual Demons.

I agree with the poster above me, I mean come on people. How can a video game make you anything that you are not already? As far as being homosexual if you play a certain gender character, do you really see how silly that is? It is just a game, simple as that only a game for fun, if you cannot distinguish between a game and reality then you had problems way before you ever started the game. I appreciae your opinions and mean no disrespect but I do not agree with you on this at all.
As for the thing about homosexuals, I disagree there too, if you do not agree with someones gender preferances that is your opinion and does not give you the right to inflict violence upon them. How does that make you any different than the "evil" that is in the game you are talking about. Teh only difference is instead of playing a game and hurting no one, you are hurting people. The very people that God created to go forth on this earth. I hope that one day you will realize that you don't have to be right all the time, and that your opinion is not the gospel but merely an opinion.

- Have you seen a major increase in violence for the last 10 years?
- Are there scientific reports admitting playing violent games lead to violence in real life?

If you answer "yes" at the first question, I say: No, you can't know without showing numbers. It's probably because nowadays we have things like internet: when some sort of violence happens at the other end of the world we know this immediately, in opposition to 10 years ago. That's why.

Considering that most of the people harassing this thread are no older than 20, don't you think that it's a bit harsh to take malicious joy in telling them to "enjoy hell"? That's not the sort of thing Jesus would say in this situation, is it?

However, to the people here from 4chan (or wherever else you're coming from), I understand that this is a fun prank to you, but I hope that you don't truly think you're justified in telling these people that they're wrong. Even if you, yourselves, don't believe that a video game can affect your judgement, unless any of you have kids of your own, you really can't have any meaningful input on raising children. I admit that I enjoy media that, as a Christian, I should deny. Perhaps I'll even burn for it. However, despite my own sinful ways, I have absolutely no intention of exposing my (future) children to it.

Even if you do not believe in God, you must understand that a large portion of the world firmly believes that that such blatant demonic media could corrupt and damn their children. Regardless of who's right, shouldn't these people be allowed the means to shield their children from it?
