I checked your Real ID link. The article was written before the game was released. Anyway, the information there is wrong.

The ONLY way someone can see your full name is if you give them your emailadress, and then you have to log into the game and manually accept the other persons friend invite. This is meant for friends you know in real life.
If you still want to be friends with someone in game, you can give them your character code, which is 3 digits. Then, they will only be able to see your in-game nickname with no personal information whatsoever.
