I registered because I wanted to reply to this thread in an intelligent, reasonable and constructive manner, and maybe take part in a discussion. But after completely reading the first few pages of this thread, I've come to the conclusion that I don't want to get too involved.

Any reply here that seemed to come from a reasonable person, even believers of God, was shot down and tossed away. Then the action of shooting down and tossing away the reply was justified by reaching as far as possible outside the borders of logic, away from common sense, and as ignorant as possible to even good-hearted trust in God's words.

It's every parents right to control what their children are exposed to, but honestly, (to post starter) you're making it sound like the developer of Minecraft set out on a personal crusade to destroy the world. You're making it sound like he has deliberately created this game in order to help the world fall into hell and never return. You're reaching desperately at the worst and most irrelevant notions that this game is supposed to be satan in discuise.

I can with just as much, if not MORE certainty than you, claim that the developer is good in nature. He set out to make this game because he saw that he could make something new, original, creative and even inspiring. He went with it, and it did in fact turn out to be something very noteworthy.

Sadly, as there is with all great things, even in the best religious communities, there are bad seeds that are less than desireable. Minecraft is no different as there are creations made by the players (note: Not the developer, and not intended created by the developer) that without doubt are made with no good intentions.
I claim that this is where the parents should come in, and make sure their children can steer clear off these bad seeds (as an example, not allowing them to play the game). Maybe even teach them how to handle or avoid these things.

My point would be that this thread picks out the few bad seeds from an ocean of great things, twists it beyond recognizability, then blows it out of proportions. This makes Minecraft (and probably other victimized games/movies) seem like they are 100% bad when they in reality only contain a tiny fraction of uncontrollable badness.

Now, I could probably write an entire book on why this thread is way off in it's intention, or how Minecraft is bad or good for the world. But I will probably only feed this thread with even more points to shoot down and toss out with wild unimaginative claims of it being the devils work, or make up a story of me being a pedophile.

I will leave this thread now with one of the good things from Minecraft. This are my only 2 cents on this thread, and I hope you people will focus on the bad things for what they really are, instead of putting up this ridiculous show of insane brainwashing. Teach your kids that lava does not equal hell. For the love of God.

I'm just going to point out one big obviousl mistake you have conquered minecraft to be.

You say Minecraft is destroying america's economy. Well, the funny part is, the developer isn't even FROM america! To buy the game, you pay in euros!

Second, how can CHILDREN wreck the economy, when they can't even have JOBS! It's a freaking game, dude. That's still in alpha, not even beta yet! It's no where near complete. I don't see how less than 600,000 children, spread all around the world wreck the economy. I guarantee there's not even that many active players.

This is a game, not real life. Go debate about shit that actually affects the real world, stop sympathizing about the internet. This game is influencing kids to get off their asses and build unimaginable things... how can that be bad? You're original post was almost a complete joke. Infact, I can't take you seriously whatsoever! Getting kids to farm instead of spending money on food? Really? What kind of person would rather have their kid buy food than be fit and farm their own. I'm a Penticostal Christian have been all 25 years of my life (grew up in a Christian home, goto church ) and it seams to be the only logical explanation for things that happen that science cannot explain.

I won't set anymore examples as you get the picture (I hope) that minecraft servers have the same chance as luring kids as much as, well, anything else, see where you're going wrong with this?

That's an incorrect statement, it TEACHES in the bible that God expects us to use our minds, to do GOOD things, building shelter and homes is doing GOOD things, Jesus was a carpenter, and what did he do? make STUFF, if you want to be like Jesus and do the things he does (I know I do), then making stuff is FINE.

If you can't build, you can't make churches.

Imagine this, you make a church, in minecraft, have other chirstians come and live in your virtual world so you can give sermons to those that are bed ridden, this isn't a negative thing.

Children, or anyone that can read and find out how to do a carpenter profession because they want to be more like Jesus, will FIND OUT how to make tools and what Jesus did. How is that a bad thing?
