Its a SURVIVAL GENRE. THE CHARACTER has to survive in the wilderness. Think of it as man vs wild, block style, and with supernatural creatures.

Then it is pointless playing the game if it cannot teach you how to survive. I have been to the outback and collected opals and found diamonds. Turning them into pickaxe's is just witchcraft. You have them cut to make jewelery.

This game doubles as a survival game. And tell me, when was the last time a person stranded out in the wilderness survived by going to McDonalds?

YOUR not lost if you play it, the character in the game is lost. Billboards for McDonalds may be THERE, but are they in the jungle? No. The Sahara? No. The tundra? No. If your stranded in, say, the Rocky Mountains during a blizzard, you need to find something to eat and build a shelter. And, of course, defend yourself against wild animals if they come a-knocking.

Because its fun. Besides, its not meant to teach you how to survive. How many times have you seen someone in the wilderness mine diamonds and make them into a pickaxe?

As someone who has lived in the Rocky Mountains (and not the sissy Colorado version) I know how scary a blizzard can be. Being snowed in, cabin fever, thinking how nice your roommate would look with an axe stuck out the side of her head. The fact that you could drag the body off and the wolves would make sure that nobody ever found it....... but I digress.

If you want to learn real survival skills, there are wilderness camps that will teach you such things. Getting fat in front of a computer screen isn't going to help you survive in the wilderness in any way. I hated those idiots who used to come from Vancouver, into the bush because you "could make big money". They were pains to work with and usually ended up in fetal position by day 3 because the work was too hard and there was no TV, radio, or other idiot box forms of entertainment.

The only place a diamond pickaxe exists is in Minecraft. In real life there are diamond saws and diamond drill bits. The diamonds used are just low grade and unsuitable for other purposes. Next time, do your research.

Let me put this into a context one at a kindergarten level can understand:

Minecraft teaches you NOTHING. I never said it taught anyone anything. The game works by controlling a CHARACTER lost in the wilderness, a charactor that needs shelter and a means to defend himself. He must SURVIVE, making it a SURVIVAL GAME. Get it? If you don't, then watch the Youtube series X's Adventures in Minecraft. I'm in a hurry, so I don't have a link, but use the search bar on Youtube. If you don't understand how to use THAT, than I don't have any nice words fit to describe your intelligence.
