and once again i ask, what was the point of giving us free will at all if we were meant to be mindless robots?

Did you not just read the Scripture I quoted that says YOU ARE NOT TO QUESTION GOD OR HIS MOTIVES?

        it's entirely redundant.

Here's a glass of water. You can do anything you want with it as long as you only use it to water my plants.

False equivalency, but I will do you the courtesy of extending the analogy.

Let's say God gives you a glass of water, and He tells you to water the plants with it. Here are the two possible outcomes:

          1. You water the plants with the glass of water, and you go to Heaven after you die (assuming you have obeyed Him in all other ways).

          2. You use the water for ANY purpose other than watering the plants, and when you die you are cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity (even if you have obeyed Him in all other ways).

If you don't consider that free will, I don't know what to tell you.

          Yours in Christ,

          Z. Smyth

I'll give you an example of free will and consequences not in any way related to God, OK?
Let's suppose you are driving down a residential street. You can choose to drive at the posted speed limit, watching carefully for children playing.

            Yes?

You can also choose to drive at three times the posted speed limit, without regard for anything around you.

These are choices you can make.

If a police officer is sitting in his car watching the street, and you drive by at the posted speed limit and watching carefully, you go merrily on your way.

If you are driving at three times the posted speed limit, you get a ticket. You may even get arrested.

Did you have free will? Of course. You chose your driving speed. You got a consequence for your action.
            God is just like that.

He lays out the Law. The Bible tells you the speed limit. You can choose to obey the speed limit, or not. That's entirely up to you.

If you obey the speed limit, then God welcomes you into Heaven with open arms! You get to spend eternity praising Him! That's wonderful!

If you choose not to obey the speed limit, then God casts you into His Lake of Fire and burns you alive for all time. That sucks.

Worst of all, just like the speeding example, ignorance of the Law is no excuse. So you'd best read the Bible.
            Bible boring? Nonsense!

The fact that the question of Skyrim is damning to your soul was even asked is hilarious. Every TrueChristain should know playing this game with polytheism, dragons, fantasy story line will send you straight to hell.

I too was once a science fiction/fantasy fan. I had every season of Highlander on DVD. Then I became born again and burned the DVDs in a fire. Not only did I add toxic fumes to our sin filled air, but I got a ticket for having a fire outside in city limits. I am very happy I did this as this is what GOD wanted. I still think the officer was wrong to write me a ticket as I was cleansing my soul and making it possible for one less weak minded sheep to watch this filth.

Are you people high? Do drugs get pumped into every sermon and bible study at your church? Do you actually believe what it is that you are typing, or are you all just pulling one big joke on the internet? The mere thought that a functioning, rational, adult human being believes any of this nonsense literally scares the hell out of me so much more than any bad horror movie demon monster. Please, for the love of anything, tell me that this is a joke. Please.

Son, the Bible is very clear about wizardry and witchcraft being evil.

                  Exodus 22:18 ; Leviticus 19:31 ; Leviticus 20:6 Leviticus 20:27 Leviticus 19:26-28 Leviticus 20:6 ; Deuteronomy 18:9-14 Isaiah 8:19 ; Malachi 3:5

You should stick around and get a proper education in God's Word.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Levi, believe me when I say that I have a proper education in the bible. I studied to be a minister when I was younger -- which begs the question of what gives you the right to call me son? You were 4 when I was born. I think you're stretching that a bit, don't you? Unless you were a tad more active at that age than most of your peers... But I digress, the bible is a book. Nothing more, nothing less. It can be used for inspiration, and it can be used to worsen the human condition. I bear it no ill will. What I do bear ill will against are misguided fools who use said book as an excuse to create atmospheres and environments of hatred and ignorance. This forums reaction to the game Skyrim (of which I am quite the fan) is simply a small, but perfect example of just how truly misguided you are. Assuming, that is, that this is not a joke, which I am still desperately hoping it is.

My apologies. Most of the gamers we get here are quite young. Most grown men don't play children's games. 1 Corinthians 13:11

What you fail to recognize is that we follow all of the Bible. You can either follow all of it or you might as well follow none of it. The end result will be the same.

And how are we misguided? If following God's Word is not the dictionary definition of the word guided, I don't want to even think of what misguided must look like. I'm picturing Sodom and Gomorrah here.

Hypocritical judgment would be if say.. I had logged hundreds of hours on that game while telling you that it was evil. That would be hypocritical of me.

Thank you for at least not stopping at verse one, though!

Speaking of Matthew 7, let's take a quick look at verse 6.

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Would you like to continue discussing the Bible or did you just stop by to spew hatred all over us?

No, not hatred. Simply incredulity. Do you understand what verse 6 even means? Basically, don't push your beliefs on those who don't share them, because by doing so you become a judgmental hypocrite. Hmm... I just may have stumbled onto something here.

No, it means don't spread what is holy before low people or they will simply use you and waste your time.

Don't take my word for it. Read what others have to say.

Matthew 7:6 is instruction to the saved, which are his disciples. The practical application is as follows:
                              1. “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs…” “Holy” would be in reference to the Word of God, and “dogs” in reference to the lost.
                              2. “...Neither cast ye your pearls before the swine…” Pearls are those Bible truths, the precious promises. In other words, these are the “gems” contained in God’s Word.
                              3. “…lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
