I'm having trouble here. As a heathen could you advise me whether you had any idea where the word "Baptist" came from before joining a forum to discuss Christianity?

You see the Historical Record I have here traces the earliest Baptist back to the year dot, not 1609, in fact to Jesus' cousin. The Greek language even had a word waiting to distinguish John (the Baptist) from John the Pharisee or John the Zoroastrian or John the Bondage-tart, a transparent attempt to get the thread back on topic will it work probably not

Were you aware in your foolishness that the Baptist delineation existed in the first century even if you were not cognizant of its significance in identifying the original form of Christianity? The only Church having continuity from the time of Jesus?

But I have found out that a Baptist church doesn't baptise babies but people who can decide for themselves if they want to Christians or not

Oh, it's not so bad at all. In fact, I daresay if you ask Christian preachers across the nation and across the globe if they prefer ignorant but trusting parishioners or know-it-all parishioners, they'll tell you they prefer the ignorant but trusting ones. Jesus tells us we must think like a child in order to hope for Salvation (Matthew 18:3). You see, children are ignorant and yet trustworthy. Why, you could teach a young child anything, and if you are their parent, grand parent, teacher, trusted adult, or really, an adult or older kid is enough, and they will naturally believe you. How else do you explain the vast numbers of children who believe in Santa Claus, despite the fact that every single one of them know a fat man could never in a million years fit down a chimney with a sack of toys, much less fly back up it by touching his finger to his nose, and then proceed to do that to every house of every Christian family with children around the world while they sleep. And don't get me started on the flying reindeer. I mean, good grief. You might as well say they're blind, radio-active, gigantic, cannibalistic, humanoid, underground dwelling reindeer and kids won't care. They'll believe it hook, line, and sinker. They enjoy the happy rewards of belief and so they embrace ignorance, and so Christ holds that up as a model for us.

Oh my goodness gracious! Do not worry about being called ignorant. I was also called ignorant when I first came to Babylon. I didn't know what a chicken nugget was and I didn't know who Johnny Carson was so the white people made fun of me. Now I have lived in America for eight months and I am very well educated and on the way to being an attorney.


I see that you have angered the white people. That is unwise in my opinion. I will send you a friend request but I have to admit to you that many I have befriended have been banned eventually. I am sure this is only a coincidence.

Let's all take a deep breath and talk this through. I'm not comfortable discussing this subject, but I am not the result of pederasty. Not an expert, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way.


I am neither nasty or filthy. I am actually quite tenderhearted and I bathe frequently and never entertain impure thoughts.


I used to be Catholic, but learned of its falsehoods and became a True Christian(tm). I now enjoy the True(tm) freedom of knowing that I am not going to hell, and I would like everyone to experience that sense of relief. That is why I am here.


I admit to being a little prissy regarding good grammar and clear writing. I am also very mindful about my manners, but sometimes it's not always easy to behave in a gracious manner to guests.


When they are rude and coarse and incomprehensible, it can be wearying. That's when I find it best to step back and pray.


The Bible speaks to us of turning the other cheek. But once I run out of cheeks and my behind starts to get red, I can become rather tart in my responses.
