I'm not a christian nor religious person because my brain doesn't allow me to belive in a book, when you look at the history of what we know about the world, you see a noticeable pattern. Natural explanations of things have been replacing supernatural explanations of them. Like a steamroller. Why the Sun rises and sets. Where thunder and lightning come from. Why people get sick. Why people look like their parents. How the complexity of life came into being. I could go on and on.

All these things were once explained by religion. But as we understood the world better, and learned to observe it more carefully, the explanations based on religion were replaced by ones based on physical cause and effect. Consistently. Thoroughly. Like a steamroller. The number of times that a supernatural explanation of a phenomenon has been replaced by a natural explanation? Thousands upon thousands upon thousands.
Now. The number of times that a natural explanation of a phenomenon has been replaced by a supernatural one? The number of times humankind has said, "We used to think (X) was caused by physical cause and effect, but now we understand that it's caused by God, or spirits, or demons, or the soul"?


Exactly zero.


Sure, people come up with new supernatural "explanations" for stuff all the time. But explanations with evidence? Replicable evidence? Carefully gathered, patiently tested, rigorously reviewed evidence? Internally
consistent evidence? Large amounts of it, from many different sources?


Again -- exactly zero.


Given that this is true, what are the chances that any given phenomenon for which we currently don't have a thorough explanation -- human consciousness, for instance, or the origin of the Universe -- will be best explained by the supernatural?


If I see any solid evidence to support God, or any supernatural explanation of any phenomenon, I'll reconsider my disbelief. Until then, I'll assume that the mind-bogglingly consistent pattern of natural explanations replacing supernatural ones is almost certain to continue.

I did some reading in the section called "Creation science" at first i thought that you all were being sarcastic and that this is actually a comedy website,but then i realised that you are all a bunch of mormons

It actually encourages you in the Bible to accept other people's beliefs and not to hold an air of favoritism, like these people like to do.


In Romans 14, Paul talks a lot about acceptance, and taking the ideas of others in (we don't have to agree with the things that are said, but it is encouraged that we listen), "Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions. One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for G-d has accepted him. Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand."


So, I mean, these people are total jokes. But they aren't how most of the people who follow the Christian faith are. Hell, the Hebrews were strangers in Egypt, being the ones outcast and not having the beliefs that everyone shared. But G-d delivered them from the judgment. And He delivers on His promises.


So, I thought I would just share that, I guess. I hope we can talk more, and completely disregard the nonsense that these people talk.

This is both theft and deception, as specifically prohibited in Leviticus 19:11.

Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.

Notice how I gave credit to the book of Leviticus there, and did not claim the work as my own? It's really not difficult.

Uh, my apologies, Miss, but I know where I got my sources from. If I didn't cite it correctly, I apologize. The passage is from Romans 14:1-4. I was making the point of the fact that Christians are encouraged by Paul through G-d's Word to "accept those with a weaker faith" (Romans 14:1), and it goes on to say that we cannot live on one opinion. We will be exposed to so many different opinions, and you cannot simply say, "Well, my opinion is the only truth, so you are...[insert mean things here]." We need to take in the opinions, and not hold judgement.


As for where you cited your version of the passage, that's incorrect too. I might advise you to check in your Bible what the passage says.
