    I'm very tired.

First of all, I am using this post not for its original use, but as a portal through which I may speak to those that inhabit this site. If this post is removed, or if my account is terminated, so be it, but I'd hope that you read what I have to say first.

Some of the people on this site have exhibited blatant sexism, racism, and even child abuse. Hitting your daughter with the Bible does not teach her the ways of God! Though, I am going off topic a bit. I do not wish to argue on whether God exists or not, I simply wish to ask a simple question:

Do you understand our common humanity?

We are all humans. Our skin color does not dictate the way we think or act. The sexual organs we are born with shouldn't decide if we are to be treated greater or lesser.

No script in a book should decide the way we treat other humans. Nor should a lack of a book do so either.

Please, don't respond to this post calling me a "sinner," and then saying yes, you do understand, because already, you are proving that that is not so. Simply because someone has a different believe, or a lack of one, does not dictate the way we act. No matter what you believe relating to the after life, we are all alive, right now, so do not waste your lives full of hatred. People may not believe in God, and that's ok. People may believe in God, and that's ok. Remember that.

    Miss Colgate,

We do not waste our lives. We use them for Love. The ultimate act of Love is to help as many people enter Heaven as possible. This in only possible if we follow Jesus!

    Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

This commandment means that each and every person must fulfill his/her role in the Created Order as Designed by God. The role of the woman is clearly stated in the Bible. She has to obey the man and produce new Soldiers for Christ!

    1 Corinthians 11:3
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

    1 Timothy 2:15
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Similarly, because of grievous sins, some nations were assigned the task of servitude by God.

    Genesis 9:25
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

By these simple rules we express our Love towards our fellow man, as the alternative for them is most unpleasant (Matthew 8:12).

    Yours in Christ,

    Elmer

If you read the Bible, especially those parts recommended on this site, you will learn God does not like, in fact hates, those who are different. We here at Landover Baptist are not in a vacuum. We express our views in the full knowledge they reflect those of Jesus Christ.

So YOU say. Let's see what Jesus says, shall we?

Revelation 22:18-19 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

I'm not quite sure you understand what I'm saying. Please, ignore your book for only a minute, just one minute, and listen to me.

Life is much too short to be spent on hatred and spite. Do not treat people like trash because they do not share religious values with you. Because in the end, on your death bed, you'll think back to how you treated people terribly, and because of it, people treated you worse. But, just as hate can reciprocate between people, so can love. Tell someone how great they are, or how much you love them. Even if you don't know them, if you're buying something, tell the cashier thank you, or compliment them. A short step can take you a long way. Please, at least consider this. If the teachings of God conflict with being a good human being, then I'm not sure I'd like to meet you people in real life.

These two statements scare me. You love those that may agree with you, but hate them otherwise? That is no way to live life. If God told you to massacre non-believers that couldn't be converted, would you? I'd hope the answer is no, because in the end, we are all humans. Our actions are what should define us, not our race or sex.

                Hello Colgate,

I put some of the text I quoted from you in bold. I think you are making a straw man argument here, that is not a nice way to make an argument. Why don´t you focus on what is actually posted here by the Christians instead of presuming they want to do something that just sprung up in your mind?

                Kind regards,

When arguing, sometimes it is helpful to view the opposing side, to gain more insight on the topic. i was simply asking you to imagine you didn't have to teachings of the bible. My intent was not to separate you from your religion, and I apologize if there was confusion. I would hope that you at least read my entire response.

In the Bible, God tells His followers to do just that very thing, all the time. And God Himself massacred a whole world of unbelievers, including toddlers and new-born babies, by drowning them with a Great Flood. (All the puppies and kittens and bunnies died, too. Only two adult dogs, cats and rabbits were allowed to live.)

As for your statement that our actions define us, not our race and sex, then I have to ask why God makes such a big deal about people's race and sex in the Bible? He spends a lot of time defining the roles of the two genders, and He settled the status of the different races right after He finished drowning all the puppies and kittens and bunnies.

You need to read the Bible.

                              Dear Roland and Joanna,

By saying these things I was not attempting to brand True Christians in any bad light. I was simply trying to appeal to the fact that while we, as people, has different beliefs, that we are still people. By saying that I "hope," I was trying to suggest that I did not believe anyone on this site had in in there hearts to infringe on the laws set in place by their government. I am sorry for the confusion, and I will refrain from using any outlandish hypothetical scenarios in the future.

But, I do believe we are straying from the original talking point, which was our common humanity. Do you agree with this post made by Jeb Stuart Thurmond? (http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showt...253#post505253)
Because in it, he reveals very racist themes, such as:
"So what should our foreign policy towards Africa be?

Invade and exterminate. Also kill all the men of nations that are allied with African nations"
