Mr. Honest, sir, I would encorage you to suspend your judgment that there is "something very wrong with this place" until you have thoroughly perused the different threads.

Over and over again, you will encounter perspectives and points of view which are very much in opposition to today's cultural norms. However, every one of those seemingly radical views can be supported by one or more verses of the Bible.

That is what we are here to accomplish. We want everyone with an interest in the Bible to understand what is really contained in its words. We want to impress upon them the level of committment required of those who proclaim themselves "Bible-Believing Christians."

Do you believe in the Bible, sir? From where else do you gather guidance in living your life? Do your ideas about God and Jesus come directly from the Bible, or are they filtered through modern modes and re-invisioned by contemporary viewpoints?

I've read the bible constantly since I can remember. That doesn't mean I'm prepared to marry my kid off before she's old enough to drive, beat her for no reason I can see, and be labeled trash. Jesus did not teach me to abide disrespect for seemingly no good reason. It is not this website I seek approval from. I do appreciate the respectful tone. I rather expected that before.

You laughed about my beliefs ("lol" were your words , very hurtful) and now you cry about disrespect.

I am without sin according to John 3:9. So I can cast the stone I want.

Well, that's just the problem, dear. You're imposing a 21st century, western moral code on the Holy Bible. And if that's the case, how do you know when to stop imposing this moral code and allow the Holy Word of God to speak for Itself?

Don't you think if Jesus wanted us to wait to marry off our daughters until after they can drive, graduate college, are able to be financially independent He would have stated so in the Holy Bible? Or do you think He pre-forgot these things would be around? Or do you think He was incapable of delivering a message for future believers?

Or... could it be, the Holy Bible means what It says, and says what It means?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

              Re: Hello.

              Mr. Honest,

If you won't take the words of dedicated, True Christians(TM) who have tried to shew unto you the ways of the Lord thy God, perhaps you'll take it from me, a dedicated, True Christian(TM) who is also a certified equine gnathologist, versed in most things veterinary, and soon to be a Ph.D. in Creation Science on an accelerated program. I am soon traveling to gain certification in asses. In addition to these facts, I am a humble, intelligent, good looking young man with muscles sculpted by Jesus.

Honesty is not enough, sir. Neither is the mamby pamby way you seem to view Christianity. This is why my brethren have asked if you've actually read and studied the Bible in conjunction with fellowshipping in a Bible believing and teaching church. While the Word of God is simple if you allow the Holy Spirit to pierce your ears, it is not so simple if you only want to pick and choose the verses that make you comfortable. The comfortable man finds himself on the wide road to Hell and its dreadful fire.

We cannot be at ease on this journey (Amos 6:1). I suspect you have been at ease, and that will only bring you woe. I have added you to my prayer list and I hope you will open your heart to the teachings you'll find here. There is no reason to endure hell's fires or send your lovely daughter there through your inaction. Jesus is calling! He is also coming! (Revelation 22:12). You must be prepared to receive Him when He comes.

Praise God, forgiveness awaits you once you stop being at ease in Zion. Glory!

Sir, if you have read the Bible (please note the capitalization) "constantly" as you assert, then you should be familiar with the verse Brother Gonzalez shared with you. Rather than concern yourself with being labeled "unsaved trash", could you please address the issue presented by Proverbs 13:24?

You countered the instruction of this verse by writing that "Violence has no place in a respectful relationship." Can you elaborate your statement in lieu of the fact that God's Holy Word shows God directly using violence to express His authority over humankind? Furthermore, there are many verses where God directs His followers to perform specific acts of violence as well as those general purpose commands (please note the word "command") which proscribe violence as the appropriate response to acts of disobedience.

No matter how much you may disagree with the stated positions presented here at Landover Baptist and how little you require our approval, you will discover that our knowledge of the Bible is unparalleled. We don't pull verses out of thin air and we build every argument for every position that we post from the rock solid foundation of Holy Scripture as it is written, not as it suits the contemporary social and political landscape.

Now, at the risk of sounding disrespectful and confrontational, how do you explain away the validity of Proverbs 13:24 and how do you justify ignoring God's commands?

                      Re: Hello.

You ask my true guidance. I've made a study of biblical history. My religious requirement is that I be Christ-like. I believe the red letters are the most important. The rest is reference that frames HIS coming. It was Christ that clarified the Word.

I'm alright if you ban me but I am saved.

Forgive me for being picky and parsing your choice of words, but LBC doesn't precisely "accuse" anyone of being unsaved.

What happens here is that every new registrant is labeled "unsaved trash." It may or may not be accurate, but it is a standard designation for everyone, myself included. Time and communication are the only means of changing one's designation. Those charged with the responsibility of ferreting out falsehoods and heretical claims (to say nothing of trolls) will give your posts the proper attention to see where you stand regarding the understanding of clear and correct Biblical knowledge.

If you feel offended by anything you read, I recommend you set aside your pride and recognize the real issue at hand. The challenge is to support any given position by asking what the Bible has to say on the subject and how a person should act on the words written in its pages.

Edit: Mr. Honest, you wrote in a subsequent post to the one that I quoted above that "You ask my true guidance." Am I misinterpreting you when I point out that no one here has asked for your guidance, for we have eyes of our own to read the Bible?

Or perhaps what you meant to express is that we asked you about the source from which you find guidance? If that is the case, you seem to be saying that you give full credence to the words that are recorded in the Bible as having come directly from Jesus' mouth. Given that any number of verses indicate that all the scriptures are God's Revealed Word to the human race, are you choosing to lend only half your heart to the overwhelming majority of the Lord's commands?

I am dismayed by such a point of view in ways that I cannot fully express.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

                          Dear Person,

These are strong claims. You probably realize - if you can get over this egocentrism for a moment - that you're expecting us to believe you without any evidence. Can you expect someone to take your assertions at face value just like that? Is there really reason to be upset if people don't simply accept your unjustified claims, especially as you've provided us with no Biblical proof for your words.

How can we judge (and, yes, we are allowed to judge as long as it is done properly; John 7:27; 1 Corinthians 6:3) your claims? The Bible tells us that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

                          Matthew 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Here we can see that a simple proclamation of alleged Faith® is inadequate. This verse also tells us that the thing to monitor is if the person making the claim of being Saved® does the Will of God! Where can we find that?!

                          2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Herein lies the answer: Scripture. This means the Bible. All of it. It is profitable for instruction in righteousness. This means that we can judge by the Bible to tell if a person is Saved, by seeing if she follows God's Commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Many things in the Bible make no sense to a person who has been indoctrinated into the fallacies of the modern world. It is not our duty to make the lives of our nearest and dearest comfortable and compassionate down here. On the contrary, Jesus tells us to do the opposite!

                          John 12:25
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

God does not look kindly upon those who have started on the path of apostasy, and one of the first steps is replacing His meticulous commandments with "common sense".

                          2 Timothy 4:3
                          For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Sound doctrine is hard to bear, and those who fail will eventually slide deeper and deeper into ignorance, as God will speed up their descent by deception!

                          2 Thessalonians 2:11
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Only by the realization that all things not justified by the Bible are lies, can we realize what has taken place!

                          Jeremiah 20:7
O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.

                          Then the healing can begin.

                          Luke 11:32
The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

I am sure that you can now see the error of your ways and start the healing process.

                          Yours in Christ,

                          Elmer
2 Kings 18:25 - Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

                            For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

                            Elmer

What I don't understand is why you perceive Brother Doctor Professor White's post as a hostile gesture.

Is there a particular verse that you object to? Is his insistance on a strict adherence to the actual words of the Bible a source of agitation for you?

We stand by the words of the Bible. They say what they say. How is that declaration hostile?

In the meantime, please let me know the ways how you discipline your daughter. Do you use an iron rod, or a wooden one? How long is the rod you use?
I don't know about you folks, but I use a 12 inch flesh rod to discipline people.
