Re: Hiiii
That post claims Matthew 7:1-5 is a prohibition against condemning others. There are other passages in the Bible where Christians are commanded to judge/ condemn people. Further on in Matthew's Gospel, we are told what to do if an erring "brother" refuses to repent. We are to gather together as God's people, and with the full authority of Jesus in our midst, cast them out of the church. Whatever we bind on earth will be bound in heaven.Originally posted by BiHeathen View PostHere's an excellent blog post about judging as well

Mt 18:15-20
15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Jn 20:22-23
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
1 Cor 5:1-13
1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
Mt 10:14-15
14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
2 Jn 1:9-11
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
Jud 1:22-23
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Jesus is very clear that He wants all His followers to be perfect and sin free:
Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
1 Thessalonians 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Sorry to disappoint you, but "whosoever" implies multiple individuals. We are all children of God (1 John 3:1, John 1:12, 2 Cor 6:18).Also, 1 John 5:18 is talking about Jesus, not everyone

Why is it so hard to understand that 1 John 1:8-10 talks about people before they are Saved - in the context of the verses I quoted?
Or are you trying to imply that the Holy Bible is somehow internally contradictory?
I don't think so - the fact that you keep sinning with lust in your heart shows that you're still on the road to damnation.

Again, 1 John 1:8-10Originally posted by Basilissa View PostHoney, have you heard about logic?
You admitted that you sin with lust.
We showed you that a righteous person does not sin. Here is another verse on the matter:
1 John 3:6-9
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
So I'm not sure where the judging part is coming from. But while you're at it, please don't forget to check out an excellent sermon about the most misunderstood passage in the Bible.

"Shall"?
Prophecy = prediction of future things. Shall = a modal verb about the future. -> Shall contains a prophecy by definition.
2 Peter 1:20
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
Thus, this means that predictions of future things are included. "She shall" is included. No private interpretation allowed. Q.E.D.
I am probably going to get blocked for this, but here's a different translation of that scripture (pls moderators don't block me I love learning more about different opinions about the scripture)
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.
Take with that what you will

A Christian must be conservative -- if by conservative you mean someone who strives to conserve and obey God's laws. God revealed His laws to man from about 1,500 B.C. to 100 A.D. They did not change during this time and they have not changed since. God cannot change, and neither can His Word.Originally posted by BiHeathen View PostI am sorry if I was misconstrued as boasting. I am simply saying that there are issues with the conservative belief, such as that they dont align with passage of scripture referenced.
Mal 3:6a For I am the Lord, I change not.
Mt 5:17-19
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Changing times, customs and traditions are no excuse for breaking God's law. The but-it's-the-current-year argument doesn't fly with God. Jesus condemned the liberal Pharisees for allowing sons out of their Biblical obligation to financially support their parents.
Mk 7:9-13
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
This commandment is still ignored by Western society, where socialist welfare states have largely taken on this role, when by rights people who won't support their parents are worse than unbelievers (1 Tim 5:8) and should be put to death (Mk 7:10).
